There's an ever so slight difference between the demand for gasoline and $100k electric cars.

Right. And your health care costs are going to go down. Let's dispel this liberal myth once and for all, shall we? The corporations that pay the most taxes in the US are:

1. Exxon Mobil
Income taxes paid: $27.3 billion
Total revenue: $486 billion
Net income: $41 billion
Effective tax rate: 42%

2. Chevron
Income taxes paid: $17.4 billion

Total revenue: $254 billion
Net income: $26.9 billion
Effective tax rate: 43.3%

Income taxes paid: $10.6 billion

3. ConocoPhillips
Total revenue: $251 billion
Net income: $12.4 billion
Effective tax rate: 45.6%

4. JP MorganChase
Income taxes paid: $8.2 billion

Net income: $19 billion
Effective tax rate: 29.1%

5. WalMart
Income taxes paid: $5.9 billion
Total revenue: $447 billion
Net income: $15.7 billion
Effective tax rate: 32.6%

6. MicroSoft
Income taxes paid: $5.3 billion
Total revenue: $72 billion
Net income: $23.5 billion
Effective tax rate: 15.9%

7. WellsFargo
Income taxes paid: $4.9 billion
Total revenue: $87.6 billion
Net income: $15.9 billion
Effective tax rate: 31.5%

8. International Business Machines
Income taxes paid: $4.2 billion
Total revenue: $107 billion
Net income: $15.9 billion
Effective tax rate: 24.5%

9. Apple
Income taxes paid: $4 billion
Total revenue: $128 billion
Net income: $33 billion
Effective tax rate: 24.6%

10. Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold
Income taxes paid: $3.4 billion
Total revenue: $20.9 billion
Net income: $4.6 billion
Effective tax rate: 35%

Note the effective tax rates for the first three before you spout more ka-ka, please.

stop spouting mythology, cairns - oil co.s receive enormous subsides, despite their taxes (and the their tax loopholes)

now, go play with y our ka-ka in PARF where you belong

Then there's webby, who's mottos is: if all fails, resort to lies.
So how about ya finally list all those oil industry subsidies you've been talking about about for all these years? we've challenged you to name them, we even double-dog dared ya. but all ya did was drool and babble.

So whatta ya say, you finally gonna tell us what those fantasy world things you made up are?
Naw, you'll just call us names and run away like usual. Wanker is your usual response.
Or maybe you'll suggest we "do a search" or "look it up" like ya usually do. Onliest problem is, we're not idiots.
we know that what you are talking about is bull flop and that you just made it up.
We know you've never listed the subsidies because they're pure fantasy.
How do you look up something that only exists in the mind of an *******?

RWebb 04-08-2013 03:07 PM

suck it spammy - I've posted the subsides numerous times

were you too dimwitted to read them? or just repeating your lies in the hopes that others will forget?

and, yes, you are an idiot :D

cairns 04-08-2013 04:39 PM

"spammy" like many others on this board, must be gratified to know that the most prolific poster on this board has resorted, like he has hundreds of times before, to personal insults because he's incapable of coming up with anything else.

sometimes i have to wonder when the moderators will have had enough.

at any rate there are lots of brand new fiskers still for sale. they are (IMO) the best looking ev out there....a shame they didn't last when others that were subsidized far more heavily did. at least for now.

Jim Richards 04-08-2013 04:47 PM

Best looking? Yikes!. They're fugly.

at any rate cairns does the same thing all the time - but is a bit nastier than spammy.

You can get Tesla today for $346/mo Model S Design Studio | Tesla Motors

Leaf lease for $139/month Cheapest Nissan Leaf lease around: $139/month in California

Volt lease for $299/mo My January 2013 Volt Lease Deal..

Could be better numbers if I would search harder...

This withing the reach, but looking on the positive side, commuting gas $$$ will stay here in USA...

Or do that I did, made my own car I like to see with 19" touch sreen, and other Hi-Tech stuff for half of the price, with clear Title on hand... JUST DRIVE... :D

Scott R 04-09-2013 01:23 PM

The base "S" is 62,000 (after you and I subsidize it) and you can't lease them. In a little over 170 months you could own it. Now since they don't qualify for most conventional auto loans since they are "boutique" cars you're also looking at around 8% interest on that.

Secondly your insurance costs are very, very high on a Tesla. Insurance is figured on how much it will likely cost to replace a fender, or a bumper. Well when you have one vendor supplying that part the insurance cost goes through the roof. Trust me, we checked.

Such a terrible idea.

RWebb 04-09-2013 02:31 PM

no, a good idea but onl¥ for early adopters

Have anyone of you guys actually driven a Fisker? I have, and although it looks nice, I wasn't very impressed. The interior felt flimsy, the computer screen and graphics seemed dated, and the car felt big and bulky. I guess the only thing really interesting about the car was that it had a nice shape and offered a rarity in the car market that made the owner feel exclusive (i.e. there were only a few people in Europe who own one). Here is a pic of the one I was in....http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1365578815.jpg

Not much on reading things through, are you? My statement was that things that were subsidized are at serious risk of failure when the subsidies dry up. Fisker is/was being kept afloat by government loans and grants, not by the sales of their cars. The Prius program received subsidies to a much smaller degree, as well as buyers receiving subsidies with the purchase of a Prius. Toyota is also one of the largest and most profitable automakers in the world, they don't need government money to keep the lights on. But thanks for your poorly reasoned and communicated argument.
