Virtual money buys a real Porsche

Hmm, interesting event. I am not too familiar with bitcoin and the workings of virtual money. I guess it was a good deal.

Well... I had to spend a few moments to catch up on 'bitcoin.' The idea of virtual money is pretty exciting in view of the onerous day we face this coming 15th. Man, would I love to exist on money in a cloud that the tax man can't see. Not going to get me very far on CL, though.

I wish I had invested in them. They doubled in value in the last few years.

That's funny. I watched a bitcoin rep just say yesterday on a business channel that no-one has successfully caused them any issues by ways of hacking..

So I see that bitcoin trading was halted today, after the value plunged by more than 50% over the last 2 days. I wonder how the seller is feeling about this deal now?

The first transaction was for 2 Papa Johns pizzas for 10,000 BC. That same transaction today is worth about $1M.

Actually, if he had held the bitcoins for a few days and sold at the right time, he could have doubled his money. The prices went from $45 a month ago to $260 two days ago.
The bitcoin market is so volatile and easily manipulated, I think anyone would be a fool to invest in bitcoins. But for someone with some extra money, speculation could be fun!

another huge drop after the markets reopened... in all, their value has dropped 76% in the past couple days.
