I'd love love love to have a Dobs scope, but meh, I only have a 6" meade reflector. I took a couple of 4 credit college courses in astronomy........it's a big gaseous void out "there" that's for sure.

Heck Eric, you're just down the street from me in Everett.........post some pics of your Monster Whiz Bang peeping glass!!! and what you can view with it, even a point and shoot camera against the eye-sight can get great shots!

I've got a full planetarium at work, and a real Star Gazer to ask questions of - does that count?

Not as mush as I'd like out here in the great Northwet...Um, Northwest. We do live on 5 acres though out in the country so its easy to set up. I just roll it out of the shop on wheel barrow handles and its ready to go.

Here's a shot of the scope.

I shot this Moon shot with a 5" Williams Optic and a Canon 5D a few years ago.

Shot this a few years ago as well with a Canon 5D with a 17mm lens at f4 (wide as it would go). Shot was taken on top of Paulina Peak in Oregon, approx 8k feet. 30 second exposure.

I cannot believe that with the equipment you have that you obtained that photo.
Wow.

Very cool red light shot of your big scope Eric, is that northern lights flaring up in the lower portion of the sky.

Wish you had the clear air and lack of light that we have here to shoot through.

Cheers Richard

Last one, shot this from Haleakala Crater on Maui in 2004. We where up there shooting sunset, all the folks were looking west when my wife said, wow, look at the Moon. About 50 people turned around to see this scene rising up in the east.

Me too. The 16" really resolves some fine detail.

Is there an easy way to lift a 14inch SCT- meade with fork arms on top of the tripod with only one person?
I am weary of asking for help.

One of our LA Cayman drivers regularly takes images with this lil' thing:
Basic Design - Subaru Telescope

As for me, a 1985 C8+ that doesn't get out much these days.
