Opinions on Lexus LS400/430

I am thinking of getting a 2000ish Lexus LS. Any opinions on the cars?

Thanks!

Only down side is the timing belt IMHO. I don't like changing those things. That said, I bought my Sequoia for a significant discount when it was just over 100k miles and needed the belt. DIY for $400 with good parts an 8 hours of my time.

Alex, I'm on my 3rd LS. Current is my DD with 132k miles and love it. A guy that used to work for me had an LS that he put 400k miles on before selling.

I'm yet to hear anything bad about them, other than the fact that they aren't the most exciting car on earth. The ultimate highway cruiser, hop in for a little drive across the country.

Nice highway cars. MPG seems to the most common downside.

Yr 2000? I have a '99 with the 3.0 v6.....Retained as a spare car to keep miles off the new one. Has 197,000 miles and runs like new. Besides the normal service, the only thing that has failed has been a wiper motor. Still has the original exhaust.....I changed struts myself at about 150,000.

Just returned on a 3,000 mile trip to the Mexican border. Got 26-29 mpg on the highway.......Used zero oil on the trip.

Didn't know they offered the LS in a V6.

I have an 06 GS 430 and I like it a lot. I do have an oil leak from the front cam seal. 90k service was $1300 for timing belt and everything (rear brakes, fresh fluids throughout).
