and a guy has studied it and found it has gone down; I forget which subset of "violence" he studied tho; maybe warfare
the world is headed towards most people rising out of poverty and joining the middle-class - ~~ 1 billion (if climate change does not cause too much social disruption), so that should further lower violence
also, warfare is much more precise nowadays; that also reduces the amount of violence - killing leaders (and some relatives) is a lot less damaging than a massive airstrike that wipes out an entire city
