I am pretty good at darts!!!! Thanks!!!!:D

Not into bowling, but many are, good on them I say!!!

Some guys are into MMA.....Yep a "sport" were your goal is to main and injure another human being. Funny, I can't bring myself to watch that, its repulsive, barbaric and totally pointless. (much like you think hunting is..... I get that)

Have fun!!!!

PS, I haven't hunted in years!!!!

I don't find Darts or Bowling very tough either BTW, but lots of folks enjoy doing it. Your criteria of criticizing it because "its just to easy" makes no sense.....Its far more easy to stop at the grocery store on the way home or grab a burger or order a salad.

The kids smuirt looks like the the perps at Columbine, Newtown, Az. Real nice.

And to others that thank the animal they kill? Thank them for what? Filling your belly with an animal that doesn't need to be killed?
Yes some will starve, why don't we murder starving people in Maine, North Dakota, Texas etc. If your rationalizing holds true you could kill hundreds of thousands. Wouldn't that be a hoot... Have your pic taken with a dozen starving homeless people!!! Hey... it's all for the good of the herd.

Sorry Todd :(

I didn't think it needed to be. But given some of the comments on this thread I suppose I should have included not only color but audio commentary by James Earl Jones.

No silly rabbit they've bought the chance to murder an animal. Fixed it for ya ;)

Hi Motion,

My family eats meat. For many years now, none of it has been bought at a store. All of it was taken in the wild, either by myself, my family or my friends. 90% of it is also local from CA and eaten down to the last bit, including innards etc. I do usually hunt many hours to take a large animal. I hunt with anything from a long bow to scoped rifles. I also have versatile hunting dogs that assist in most of it. I love cooking - meat processing and hunting is almost like an extension of the process to the very start of it. Hunting connects me deeply to something in my psyche and in my dogs - it really is an instinct IMHO - and my dogs and I can go for days and weeks in the field pursuing something. I don't even care terribly much if I go home empty handed most the times. If you do not have this connection to your distant past and to your four legged hunting companion, you probably don't understand it. But maybe I was able to explain it?

Cheers,

George

Both sides here have a right to their point of view or feelings on the subject.
Someone who's senses tell them it wrong to kill animals should avoid being around the hunting of game. They have every right to feel the way they do.

The hunters here have to some extent explained the way modern game management works. But have not mentioned the efforts made to-wards habitat restoration, planting of food for wildlife balance. Or the success achieved in recovery of very depleted game numbers over the last few decades. Mostly on the efforts of private and public wildlife support orgs. lead by hunters.

It is the judgment and criticism of folks of the opposite POV that is a reflection of the problem in our society today.

People have a right to their opinions, and if theirs differ from yours they still deserve a bit of respect to their right to believe what they do. Certainly there are limits to this.

We see it played out here often, some conservatives and a few Liberals can hardly express themselves without denigrating their counter parts in the most offensive of terms. And this is happening among "friends".
While these habits persist it will be impossible to agree to disagree, and move on to solving more important issues.

Are you seeing what I'm talking about? I hope this doesn't seem PARFy its not meant to be. Sometimes we need to look in the mirror and check if we are treating folks like we want to be treated.

A little respect goes a long way!
Cheers Richard

MMA is 2 adults that choose to engage in the sport.... No one is forced, and the goal is not to injure your opponent but to win by having them submit. Injuries often result but that is due to the competitive nature of the sport, just like football. I also don't know why your trying to make it seem like I'm against hunting. I never said that, you did. What I said was that sitting in a tree stand while on twitter waiting for a deer to walk by below and than taking it out with a shot is not hunting, nor does using a high powered rifle with a scope. You are also minimizing the fact that an innocent animal is killed (main objective) where this is not the case with real sports that take actual talent.

Have fun!

I suspected that you had over-interpreted the Kaibab deer study from long ago. Maybe you've also seen something on TV?

Numerous factors determine popn sizes, including so-called intrinsic factors, predators, disease, and many others. Hunting merely substitutes for other factors, and may cause popn sizes to differ.

Try not to get so wound up when you are wrong. Or move to PARF.

What is the animal innocent (not guilty of)?
Why do you say the main objective is to kill an animal?
If that was the case, I'd have given up hunting a long time ago!

When people ask me why I hunt I usually tell them I couldn't get out of bed at 3:30am on a Saturday (or 7 days straight on a hunt) with a camera on my shoulder. BUT...give me a rifle or a bow and i'm ready to go. I like the people (or being by myself) in camp...I like to see the darkness give way to sunlight...I like the feeling of freezing my nuts off; wondering how the game can endure this season in and season out...meanwhile i'm bundled in every piece of Thinsulate you can imagine. I like watching mother nature play out while I'm an audience member slipping thru. I
learn from being outsmarted...thinking I've thought everything thru; just like any good chess player. Then getting my azz handed to me. I put that back in the memory bank to be recalled later; even if I've forgottoen and the exact same thing happens again. I love coming back to camp...beat...to find 1 of the guys made a killer dinner...or more importantly; a killer drink :D I get to listen to everyone else's stories of the day...success or not, it's no different in texture than ourparents and grandparents listened to on the radio. Sitting around the fire...listeneing to the microcosm I'm ensconsed in as well as getting sage advice from campmates regarding ALL aspects of life.
If I am sucessful, you may rest assured I'm not giddy with killing a big game animal. Happy; but with a tinge of sadness; guilty as charged. I've [B]always[B] said a thank you to God. I remember what my hunter teacher taught me more than 40 years ago..."quickly eviscerate the carcass and get it cooling to preserve the integrity of the meat."
There's a schit pot more I could write...but suffice it to say that I enjoy taking on the challenge of a legal activity within the confines perscribed by men.

i honestly CANT THINK OF ANYTHING BETTER THAN GOING HUNTING FOR ANY SPECIES and i at age 55, i have done a hell of a lot of things on this planet.

but then most of you "costco clowns" couldnt sharpen a knife let alone skin and gut an animal, let alone survive in the elements without yer mommy or wifey or freeking microwave, or a starbucks within a 1/2 mile, no matter what time of year or season.

and dont even tell me about WANTON slaughter of poor innocent animals by "bloodthirsty" hunters. hell theres been years when i didnt even pull a trigger because i didnt have the tag for species or sex i was hunting, let alone "trophy" hunting. pfffffft trophy hunting!

heres one of those hunts i just love to relive over and over and over in my mind, let alone thru pics. snowed in(PERFECT), no body for miles (PERFECT), quiet(PERFECT) and i didnt give a flying fook how long i was snowed in as i was prepared with anything everything mutha nature could throw at us for MONTHS!(be prepared aint just a motto).

a slew of you "wildlife biologists" here should really learn something about the sport ,the seasons, the #'s of tags allotted, per unit(whats a unit?) etc before spouting off about stoopid poo with NO WILDLIFE BIOLOGY backgrounds.

crap i just got drawn for the 3rd year in a row for elk here. i cant freeking wait to go scouting, sight in rifles, practice practice practice, see more game while scouting, take pictures, brave any kind of weather. watch them at night with night vision, watch them during the day with quality optics and admire them. when deer tags come due i will put in for a tag just like i do for elk EVERY YEAR for the past bazzilion years.

but the best part..............there isnt any noise but nature, and i dont have to read a bunch of horse sheett from a bunch of wambee pambee GIRLY MEN that couldnt survive being a 1/2 mile away from their mommy or a starbucks let alone freezing temps and snow.

the majority of you "costco clowns" wouldnt last three days of a 14 day hunt in good weather, let alone last a day or two if a weather system let loose with a few feet of snow on yer city slicker azzz'

oh then lets throw in a horseback hunt, holy sheet theres no steering wheel on this here horsey/mule! "wheres da brakes?"

what ? catch a fish and COOK IT? holy sheet !

shoot a bird and cook it? holy sheet! thats CRAZY!

yep it takes all kinds, peudners, but its a cold day in hell when ya find me "bowling" or playing "darts", if i can be drawn for any game species tag.

read all about the great deer die off in the kaibab national forest back in the early 1900's and tell me that i dont do a service to everyone by attempting to harvest game each year.

man who ever thinks ya just sit in a stand with a high powered rifle and the deer/elks/antelopezz just walk up and say "shoot me" , IS A MORON! as thats about the furthest from the truth i have EVER experienced.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1366602881.jpg

I love me some MMA. Hunting I have done once (deer) and never want to partake again. Given I was not brought up in that sort of thing but I'm too much a wimp. I do consume store bought protein so that makes me a friggin hypocrite which I will accept. YouTube some slaughter house video - I am down to 2-3 nights a week consumption of red meat. Good for the mind and body.
