unbelievable!
what is this world coming to? does that make a kid getting caught with firecrackers a terrorist?

Sadly this is a case of "you reap what you sow". NY residents elect anti-gun politicians who start with banning things like those terrible deadly baby killing assault weapons and the residents applaud, thanks for keeping us safe! Then they move into banning higher capacity magazines, some of the residents start contemplating why their garden variety handgun must be turned in to the state because it is now illegal. Then they eliminate concealed carry, then they institute significant background checks and waiting periods on all devices that shoot a projectile, then they institute significant taxes on ammunition, then they start....... Pretty soon the laws are such that gun ownership is a difficult and cumbersome task if not impossible. This is how the slippery slope starts, and why many gun advocates are against ANY additional regulation. You give an inch, they take a mile, and pretty soon kids are being arrested for toy guns. It's death by 1000 cuts. Lunacy....

I think the approach of the gun control people has shifted to "guns (and things that look like guns) are evil and no sane person would want to posess a gun (or a thing that looks like a gun). Make sure all the kids know it.

We're raising a generation of wusses

We are allowing people outside of the household to raise us.

The kid was not a terrorist he was just a kid and turning him into a criminal for possessing a toy gun is simply insane. Maybe we should all refuse to watch the "news" until they start behaving and reporting things responsibly and stop trying to spread fear and panic. They interviewed other students at the school who said that it was very scary to think he was living so close to them. I can't wait to retire and leave this city for good.

No, I think that it is relatively easy for a Policeman to get confused by what is a real gun and what is a toy, when you are playing with them in a crowded public area. Point a toy gun at the wrong person on the wrong day, and you are probably going to get shot.

It happens, as well as robberies carried out with imitation weapons.

Yet another reason why we should all be whipped up into a frenzy at every moment... But then I thought you guys were all for state's rights... IIRC the Supreme Court recently upheld New York gun laws, and you know there is a conservative majority there.

You recall incorrectly. The Supreme Court refused to hear a challenge to NY gun laws. That is much different than upholding them. It means no decision has been rendered, and they could chose to take up the issue later.
