eBay alert - beautiful '56 Buick wagon in Kirkland, WA. - auction ends in 2 hours

No affiliation...just found it while browsing Buick Specials...

At $8,750.00 so far with only 3 bids...no reserve. What a beauty!

Buick : Other Wagon in Buick | eBay Motors

Quote:
This is a RARE 1956 Wagon - Ready to jump in and drive
This is a loaded Special with power steering, power brakes, tinted windows (all), clock, Radio,
I never intended to sell and sank a lot of good money into this great car
It is a factory white / pink / white car. It has one repaint over the original colors- now green /white
Paint code is N C N TAHITI CORAL / DOVER WHITE / TAHITI CORAL
-I was going to repaint the original colors one day, but it drives and look OK the way it is.
The chrome is shiny , but old and original , the stainless is very straight
All the mechanics have been rebuilt and working great
I am thinning my Buick collection- have over 20 great looking and running classic Buick's and not enough room
I have driven this car recently on several trips and it drives tight, stops well, good power and great heat
In the last few thousand mile I have have all professionally rebuilt......
-Engine, bored .030 over, all new inside, pistons, bearings and new valves
-Transmission inspected and serviced
-Radiator recorded
-Heater core replaced and control valve
-Steering box rebuilt
-Power steering pump rebuilt
-Radial tires
-New brakes and wheel cylinders
-Complete dual exhaust system
-Nice frame mounted trailer hitch

All the electrical , lights, horn, signals, heater , defrost, reverse lights and dome light works well
The steering wheel and padded dash are excellent!. The seats were recovered several years ago and have good support
Door panels are original and aged, the headliner has one damaged spot above the rear hatch. Carpets were replaced at same time as seats
Has cool period carpet savers front and rear- rear seat is great- forgot to get it in the pictures
- Inop is the clock and radio - I never looked into them. I think some one put a radio in before me , as it is the rare wonderbar unit
I just inspected thew car on a hoist and found little to no rust. It has been in dry storage the last 10 years and was a driver up to then.
There is little specs of rust in the lower corner or rear doors, one pimple on the tail gate and has some rust in the spare tire well area.
None found on floors, frame or supports. Overall a very solid car.

my family had one very like that one when I was in early high school. I even painted the wheels red. That was in Fla, so unlikely the same one. But quite the flash back

Cheers Richard

Cool Richard.....I didn't know you lived in Florida.

We had a late 50's Buick Special sedan - and my grandparents had one too. Those things are tanks!

I've bought 3 vehicles from eBay and all transactions were perfect. One was a snipe, the other a BIN, and the last I contacted the seller and bought it on the side.

Will be interesting to see how this one ends. VERY cool wagon!

Oh yeah! I grew up in what was then Eau Gallie, now part of Melbourne. My Dad worked at Cape Canaveral as it was called then. Lived there from late 50s thru early 70s
The peak of the space boom in the area.
I'd say I was part of the second wave of surfers on the coast, Hell we would wave to each other on the road and give a sign as to the conditions behind us, and try to get together to surf together, for the company. Worked as a lifeguard in Satellite Bch. for a few years. Good times! Still say yaall sometimes.

Cheers Richard

I think it would look better in the original colors. Still a very cool car and you wont see too many of these ever again

Lovely wagon. Brings back memories.
The summer between my sophomore & junior yr. (1961), I had a '52 Buick Special, 4 door...I paid $250 premium for it because it had less than 50k on it.
I removed the beautifully shaped gear selector from the column, cut a slit in the floor, & welded it to the DynaFlow tranny linkage.
My first car...I thought I was so hot!!!

Small world. I was born in Melbourne in 1962. My parents met at Melbourne HS. Both of my grandfathers worked at Patrick AFB during the space boom. Mom's parents moved to Satellite Beach (Norwood Ave.) in 1958. Dad's family had moved to Eau Gallie in the early 50's.

In keeping with the thread subject, my parents first car was a mid 50's Buick Special!

What do we think will be the top bid? I say $9k - $9.5k.

Moved to Florida in Jan. 1970 - Oak Hill - just a 20 minute drive north of the Cape.

Loved road trips to Brevard County. Cocoa Beach pier, Patrick Air Force Base "Picnic Tables", Indiatlantic (home of Dick Catri Surfboards).....lot's of surf history in that area.

Heck I bought first Florida board at Ron Jon's! It was a Surboards Australia tri-fin.

Back on thread topic - I think our Buick was a little older than yours John - maybe a '55.

My Dad called it a "Three Hole Special".

My first car was a '62 Buick Special! I was a Senior in HS. First production car with the V-6 engine...she scooted pretty good. Those are Aloha racks too, Richard. So this is what I took my date to the prom in...no Porsche!

Indeed fond memories! If I didn't have enough already going on, I'd be in.
When I was a kid, we had I think called the 'Estate??' wagon. It was loaded with power windows, green color two tone. Played with those windows all the time.. ha. But my fave was when Mom was driving and the brakes went out! Fortunately we were on a flat, hardly much an incline and she rolled right to a service station. The fellows pushed us onto the floor lift and up we went.. while three of us stayed in the car. Nobody worried about such things.. LOL. Thanks for the showing and will watch the end bid.

Ps. Did those wrap windshields have green tint? Have a distinctive memory of it and was something I thought was neat. I can still recall the smell of it... great days.

Less than 10 mins to go on the wagon. That would look great towing an airstream trailer.

David914, it sure is a small world, and this forum spans it pretty well.
You are indeed a rare bird as a native of Melbourne. Most folks there in my time there were from else where and came for the boom.
I was in the first class to go to EGHS for 4 years class of 67.

Baz, I went thru a few set of those racks. And Catri was The Man. Really got things going. I learned shaping from him.

Auction just ended with no more bidding. Wow - wonder how much more it would have taken to win her from that top bid?

I still think eBay is an amazing market place to buy and sell.

One time we raided a friend's Mom's house in Eau Gallie - filling up the back seat with avocados before going on a road trip to Hatteras. We were starving college kids - those avocados were mmmmmm good!

Yeah Richard, Catri was the man - in fact more like a god back then!

My brother had one, too. Pretty cool car back in the day.

We (me, wife, son) also lived on the Space Coast. PB, SB, and MI.

That is a damn nice car for the money. It is amazing how cheap American cars are compared to VWs. A 1956 VW bus in that condition would have gone for a lot more than $8750
