OK, now I'm curious...what were the FCA members like that put your wife off that much?

I've had nothing but great experiences with Ferrari owners. Great group of hard-core enthusiasts, for the most part.

Paddle shifting a Ferrari is truly sublime. I'm a stick guy, and I would take a paddle Ferrari over a 6 speed any day of the week. On the track, they are wonderful. Just amazing.

Well, start with the accountant that thought he was Jerry Seinfeld, who told rude, corny jokes to any female that didn't run away screaming, who thought it was cool to attend a FCA national meet in his beater 328 Mondial cab with longhorn horns bolted to the front hood of the car... it goes rapidly downhill from there. One common feature... none of them could drive, none of them could work on their cars, none of them were people you'd associate with if you met them on the street.

^^^??? Luigi with a longhorn special - LOL. Is not Seinfeld one of the most prolific Porsche collectors? What were some of the offending jokes by this accountant? That's OK, when I read of you mentioning the 328 Mon cabrio, reminds me of one I took in trade. Mr. Cool bashed how bad the car handled and purchased an 89 911 Turbo. When we took a test drive, the guy would enter a corner and depress the clutch! Worse... at speed and then all of sudden just let up on the pedal. Frightening!

Anyhow, its a 911 evolved over 50 years!!! What a beast and must be an incredible piece of machinery!

I only meet one Ferrari owner - Richard (motion) - and I thought he was the coolest of dudes! I like him and would fly fish, drink beer and listen to his ideas.

If Motion is a common representation of F-Car owners then they are good folk IMO...

He is not, at least around here. You should have attended the gathering last year put on here in Tulsa by the Dallas Ferrari dealer, to try to drum up some business. Not an old-school car guy amongst them. I could have told half of them that all Ferraris had 9 cylinders and they wouldn't have batted an eye. Some of them had some nice looking rentals on their arms... More than a few wore $900 tennis shoes and other worthless crap.

We need to get back to whining about the new car, not talking smack about Ferrari owners...

I just got a 2013 991 with PDK. My old 997 was the 6 speed. The PDK is a bit lackadaisical in 'eco' mode, but in 'sport' the shifts are super crisp, and using the paddles, it blips the throttle just enough to always be in the right power band. Great gear box.

I disable the auto start and coast features. Less gas mileage, but who cares?

If there is any compliant, it is that the down shift from 2nd to 1st on hard braking is a bit wound up, and not as smooth as I'd like. Same as a 997 manual box. I figure as I get to know the car better, I'll optimize the PDK.

With those super pronounced rear hips the 991 Turbo almost looks like a Cayman.

Any lady that buys my wife a very nice gift for not showing up to your party and makes pretend to be interested in my silly opinions is aces in my book!
