Cy Yedor, RIP. Interesting guy. We might not have SCCA as we know it if not for him.
The Story.
And a very cool pic: Two very cool cars that Ken Miles built circa 1953. I think that's Miles on the left and Yedor on the R. They raced the old airplane circuit plus some more. Probably Paramount Ranch. I can't find any info about Yedor and CalClub, the local chapter. As mentioned in the article, Yedor was a founding member of the Peterson and well connected throughout the racing community. I was looking for a book he might have written but didn't find anything. Man, this guy had some stories to tell including racing against James Dean. Last edited by Zeke; 05-03-2013 at 10:28 AM.. |

Nice read.
Would be neat to see a larger image. Both the MG specials 1 and 2 in the wet. Dig the pontoon fenders and exhaust.

We could always tell when Cy would arrive at an event. The sweet music of a V12 would precede his arrival with his metallic green 365 GTC/4
RIP

Cy Yedor...CSCC co-founder and racing devotee
Photo is of Ken Miles and Cy Yedor -- taken in the rain on the false grid at Pebble Beach in 1955. Miles in his #50 MG R II Flying Shingle and Yedor #25 in Miles' first generation MG Special , the R-1. Both were fierce nose to tail competitors. Photo appears in James Dean At Speed (Amazon.com) Please give photo credit/ownership to the Mecham collection/Ron Yates, owner. Lee Raskin, author, James Dean At Speed, 2005
