Back to the topic at hand, it's well known that I have a hard time sticking with one car for long. On that theme I picked two, largely because these both occupied spaces of honor on my bedroom wall as a kid. Both are epic, even by modern standards. If I had the means, this would be a tough one. http://torofanatics.com/sites/defaul...orsche959.jpeg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AUU8HawoDL...255B1%255D.jpg http://photos.classicandperformancec...o_282324_7.jpg |
We share the same garage.

I see that some of you guys love it, too; the car that comes quickly to mind for me... and has... for decades... the 250 GTO.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367734188.jpg But I would also really enjoy a C2 with a small block... or a CS... and I forget the original parameters Lubey gave, but if it was to be my only car, being able to have A/C would probably make either of them come out a winner. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367734908.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367734534.jpg |

This is a great thread.... seriously awesome cars...
Call me crazy, but my dream car is a 1941 Chevrolet convertible. :) _ |
It's definitely an "over the top" question. I met a guy that has 2 60's GTO's....the charisma of these cars you can cut with a knife. The interior is "all business" and the cars bear the patina of driving, not storing. Those cars definitely have something special. Don't get me wrong, visiting this guys collection is an awesome experience (original Testa Rosa, D-type, C-type, several 300SL's, even a modern Ford GT, ETC!) but those GTO's....man are they cool! This fellow's business is the restoration of 300 SL's......a cool million will get you a fresh one thats been lovingly restored to better than new condition. He claims there are clients of his that put 30k miles per year on their 300SL's ! There are probably no modern exotics that have any owners that drive them even close to that much but I guess the comparative simplicity of the 300SL means someone CAN do that. He also says that Benz supports these cars in an unheard of way, a phone call to Germany and 24hrs later, you have the part in your hand. I guess Benz believes these cars are the soul of the company and they seem to invest much in resources to keep them out there and running. Love 'em all, but the GTO is a special bird!
