Lets Say You Get Unlimted $ to Spend on 1 Car...
What would it be...(I'm digg'n that 911, 2014 Turbo...)
(the money is unlimited and can be used on operation and maintenance, and oh what the heck upgrades as well!) |
|
I'd have to drive a few of the high end touring cars before deciding. I don't know of anyone who has driven them all from a Panamera to a 4-door Veyron.

Not the most desirable F-car, but I don't care. Always loved the look of the 80's GTO.

I'd build my own from the ground up. Machine tools, dies, etc..
|
Ummmmm......sorry, misfire. Forgot about this. Easily my 'cost is no object' favorite.

Gull wing, Ford GT or GT 40, Singer 911. I'm not too picky, I'll let y'all decide, surprise me!

How much is Jaguar worth? The whole company.... because I would probably need to buy them to get my hands on the XJR13.
Jaguar Heritage. Museum |
Too many to choose from.
Road legal 962, Dodge M4S, GT40, Lancia Stratos (the money can be used for upkeep, right?), GNX powered X1/9, widebody SCCA turbo RX7... |
That's a tough one, especially since I haven't driven any of the cars that would make that list
I suppose the top of the list would be the McLaren F1, Carrera GT and GT40 I would actually prefer the silver one over the other two. http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/14/65/63/78/mclare12.jpg |
|
I'm thinking an original 1962 Ferrari 250GTO
|
Certainly none of the above. No "look at me" machinery is desireable to me at this point in life. So, probably an ultimate Q ship car. Something that goes pretty much unnoticed but is capable of near supercar performance. Maybe begin with a Lexus platform? I dunno...It would take some thinking.
|
Unlimited, ok, if I have the money to keep it up, the 918 Spyder or the LaFerrari, and make it my daily driver if I can fit in them at least as easy as my Z3 Coup.
|
I'd have my 356 restored
|
|
Would be a toss-up between these two...

if maintenance includes towing, then ... GTB

OK qualifying questions: New or used? Must it be road legal?
Lots of candidates, but I think it would be a 427 Cobra. My all-time favorite. I do appreciate a lot of the other cars already mentioned, though: GT40, 917, XJ13, McLaren F1. And a couple not listed yet: D-type/XKSS, BMW CSL, 908/3, 935-76, Ferrari 512S. Funny how almost no new cars are on anyone's list above. |

the "all expenses covered" clause covers road repairs, right? barring this, probably the gull wing. |
I must be getting old. I'm rather partial to this:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367626145.jpg Hey, If I don't have to pay for it or pay to maintain it, might as well go in style. Best Les |
Les might be on to something here....many of the general public wouldn't have a clue what it is if you shaved the emblems, perhaps changed the grille a bit.

Early-mid 50's Ferrari. 166 or similar I think.

Wish I could buy it back, sort of. Beotech for parts which is why I sold it for stupid money to the Prime Minister of Kuwait. |

Street Legal Porsche 962
IIRC Porsche only made a few of these, beautiful. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367636045.jpg |

When I was younger, I thought the 300SL Gull-wing was the shiznet, but as I've aged, I think I prefer the open topped 300SLs. |
P4 sure the gt40 beat them
but the P4 is prettyer faster and way rarer the the over priced 62/64 gto |

There are some people who really dream small around here. Free car? Original Ferrari GTO. Done.
|
Let's see, free $15M car or free $100k car?
Decisions... |
