Assuming it doesnt have an insane amount of miles on it, yes, good deal.

How many miles?
Have you owned an 22RE before? I had one (a 1991) and loved it, put over 180k on it and gave it to a friends of mines son. It now has almost 3 bills on it with nothing but routine stuff. I ask because they are slow, painstakingly slow. Mopeds will want to race.

Seems like a deal if the mileage is low. If you don't buy it chances are that thing will be on it's way to Mexico, big demand for them down there.

Holy crap dude, buy it and buy it now! Those are an easy $8k around here assuming it doesn't have a million miles on it or tons of rust. I'd buy it in a heartbeat, those are fantastic little trucks. My FIL has a 1992 with a V6 (boo) and an automatic (boo), but he bought it with only 60k a few years ago. He won't sell it to me, at least not yet.

Damn! I would have probably considered it, I've been wanting a nice old Toyota truck.

That would have caused fist-fights around here. Slow as molasses, but damn near bomb-proof. The miles would not have scared me in the least with a 22R.

I had a 91 22r and lubricated it with sand once by mistake. It didn't care.

I have 2 Tacomas with the 2RZ ( next gen 22R), the '97 has 126,000 miles and runs perfect, the '98 has 187,000 miles, doesn't burn a drop of oil. Every 3k miles I drain out 5 1/2 quarts and put 5 1/2 fresh quarts in. These Toyota trucks pull big money around here. Every time my wife drives one someone asks her if it's for sale.

When I commuted from Frazier Park to LA everyday, I would see at least 3 times a month, 2 Toyota trucks (22R) w/ Mexican plates each towing a Toyota truck (purchased here in the U.S.) and all 4 beds piled high with hoods, fenders, transmissions and car parts all for the late model Toyotas, on their way south of the border.
I've known a few friends who retired to Mexico and high on their list was finding a 22R truck (preferably 4x4) to take south with them.
