Anyone Ever seen a broken caliper piston sea lip?

I broke a piece of the piston lip when I was trying to extract the piston, once. But I've never seen one that broke while driving.

I just had an f 350 come in, where the whole ring above the caliper piston seal broke/ fell off then wedged in between the rotor and bracket. It nearly locked up the wheel. and made a lot of horrible noises
