How do I get the rat piss smell out of my 911S tub?

Purple power degreaser and a pressure washer. Once repainted the smell will be gone.

By the time you are finished, there won't be any smell.

But, you should treat the tub with phosphoric acid, maybe diluted, and then rinse. The 2 911s that I did extensive work on got acid in all the concealed cavities, rinsed, dried and treated with various anti rust compounds ranging from cavity wax to POR 15.

The cavities were also cleaned as well as possible with air pressure out of a long nozzle and vacuuming with a skinny hose.

I can't imagine any smells other than the new leather when finished.

I think Mark is messing with us here, and Von & Zeke just took the bait. What's the next post, "Post a photo of your barn find 911S"?

I'd say bottle it and sell the small bottles of "Porsche Vintage Air" on E-Bay.

The kangaroo rat is the champion of not just rat piss, but ALL mammalian piss. The nephrons have a very long loop of Henle and that is something to brag about down at the bar.

Even worse than wolf piss? A friend of mine that worked for the state wildlife department told me about ordering some wolf pee for a animal count study. He said it was horrible even inside several layers of bottles.

No, the car is nasty. I didn't smell anything when I went over it, but the car was not completely apart yet. That's why I mentioned my doubts about the 40,000 some odd miles claimed. Not saying that isn't the case, but the car lead a tough life sitting out of use. The exhaust was just about rusted through.

My 50,000 mile Boxster looks concours by comparison.

Acid Dip. But given that you are in California, Media Blast it off.

We have acid dips here. I don't recommend it. Mark has a big facility with an outside lot. He can pressure wash the car until it's squeaky clean. I suspect that's what he has in mind given the inquiry about the rotisserie. But, if rodents found their way into the cabin heat tubes, that's going to be something else again entirely.

Dipping is a no no, the acid gets in areas where you dont want it, seams ect. If you must dip you need to bake the car so all your materials adhere. The fenders are the only thing I am dipping, the rest of the car is being steamed, then stripped by hand. Some areas we will blast. car is about ready for the BBQ

Yeah, I know about the seams. And to top that, the heat tubes would be destroyed. They are impregnated fabric with a spring like a dryer hose. The spring wouldn't even survive the acid.

But, the front fenders have an area at the headlight bucket that would be just as susceptible to future hidden, lurking acid damage. You better soak those puppies in a neutralizing solution for awhile.

Media blasting a unibody tub like the 911 is a huge mistake. The media, (sand, whatever), will wind up in places that it will never come out of. Or more accurately, it will come out a little at a time forever. For-ever.

Big mistake.
