Remember that old 49 Chebby Truck that Choc was sellin'...

Well, here it is again...about six months and several thousand bucks later. I put in a new front suspension with disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Also somewhat wider 'smoothie' wheels and radials. Rides and drives a lot better. Next is a set of headers, dual glass packs, and dual two bbl carbs... A pleasure to drive

You're not looking in the right places. My hunch is the 'retro' plates will look like a$$; this truck deserves better than that. Let me dig though my stuff and find the # of the license plate guy I buy from.

That would be nice..I've only looked on flea bay and a few others I found thru Google I agree that the DMV plates will be flakey at best. Love to have some YOM plates, even if junky lookin'

Hey Mark, good to see your progress on that sweet truck. The improvements at the front end will certainly make it much more fun to drive, good choices! Like the signs on the door too.

Was watching Chasing Classic Cars the episode featuring micro cars and their unbelievable high selling prices at auction. toward the end of the show they were in Wayne's show room and there was a twin to your truck, same colors exactly, bet he wants tons for it. Looked great.

Cheers Richard

Dude. Ya had me right up until the glass packs thing.
A beautiful truck like that shouldn't sound like a POS low rider IMO.
But hey, it's yours and you can do whatever you want with it.

Actually they are steel packs and are much more mellow that GP's...soft and throaty...

GP's burn out and sound harsh...this will bring out the nice tone of an IL six.. I shoulda explained that in my OP

Leave it to the complainer to ruin everything.

Very nice truck.

Thanks guys.. I keep looking at it and am thinking I should remake the bed rails out of oak and stain them a lot darker. These are Cedar and just to light in color....Oak will look a bit classier.

...and will match the oak bed (but I'm biased). If you go that route, send me a note and I'll go out to the garage and find the can of Poly I used to refinish the boards so you can match them up.
