It's true I don't store my scotch horizontal. Why is that? |
Thought I would bring these over from my Europe trip thread. Wandered down into this relic wine celler yesterday deep in the bowls of Brennhausen.

Funny! Mostly just old bottles stashed, But this could really be made into a fine wine celler if there were more wine drinkers in the family. Lots of good beers to be tasted in the area. Cheers Richard |
Whoo. You guys put me to shame. I'm one of those godless fellows who cellar wine for about five minutes.

Timely thread. Just finished my wine cellar as part of a basement renovation...Here's some picshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370115848.jpg

Few more pics:
Holds about 750 bottles in a fairly small space. I used the Instacellar racking system from Wine Racks America http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370115948.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370115960.jpg |

Thanks Todd.
Conventional compressor. The basement is very cool as it is, and it wasn't budgetarily realistic for me (after replacing our oil furnace, adding a full home natural gas back up generator, redoing plumbing and electrical infrastructure, and, an assortment of other "while you're in there's") to try to keep the room <60 deg, so I'm going with the attitude that it is consistently cool, but not aggressively chilled, basically it has a dedicated "zone" of A/C |
It looks like you're off to a great start. Cheers!

Although I do have a few really nice ones that I am keeping. |
Simply lovely. Cedar backing is a nice touch. I like them all, especially the old European stone cellar, though it looks a bit picked over.

Good planning. What I've been doing is keeping an eye on the pinot noirs produced in Central Otago, NZ, at the supermarket, and when I see one at a very friendly price (half price) I buy a bottle and open it that evening. If it's any good I go back the next day and buy a case or two. Then when they are starting to run out I pull the same stunt again. . |

I cellar wine in a Coleman cooler in my basement.

In laws are currently having this one finished... IMO the doors are the best part and you cant see them. Hand made, arched top with 400y/o glass out of a home in Ireland
