Just wanting an insignia for the farm. The fab work already has a logo.

Now I'm thinking of using the 911 outline to look like the terrain with some horses grazing within/below.

scottmandue 06-03-2013 02:16 PM

Make it a male horse!

rusnak 06-03-2013 02:36 PM

Lol!

kach22i 06-03-2013 02:42 PM

Going left to right, and both in the same direction is the strongest messaging I've seen yet.

Nice work foxpaws.

I actually like the one gassy posted too, the humor works.

What is the tie-in with a horse farm and a Porsche 911? I don't get it.

Told you guys.....

Wow.......NICE work, Fox Paws! ;)

Well, you have a horse on the Porsche crest already, maybe some heavy modifying to make it your own?

Not an obvious rip off, just taking a nod sort of approach.

The horse in the middle is from the coat of arms of Stuttgart, the capital of Württemberg. Stute in German means female horse and gart in the city name is short for garten, or garden.

Well, the crest is already a very recognizable logo. Not only would that be confusing for people, but the people at Porsche might object a little bit.

You mean the people at VW might object.....

Fox, I like your second logo.

Sure, you can use the Stuttgart horse, even Ferrari stole it, most probably.

You could further tie into the Stuttgart name and call it the Stud Farm.

History
The coat of arms shows a black, rampant horse on a yellow or golden field. It is a canting seal due to the fact that the name "Stuttgart" is an over the centuries modified version of "Stutengarten", in English roughly "mare garden" or "stud farm". About 950, Stuttgart was originally founded by Duke Liudolf of Swabia, one of the sons of the Holy Roman Emperor Otto I the Great, and used for horse breeding (especially for his father's cavalry, see Battle of Lechfeld).

Approximately 150,000 companies are located in the Stuttgart region. The area is known for its high-tech industry; some of its most prominent companies include DaimlerChrysler, Porsche, Bosch, Celesio, Hewlett-Packard and IBM all of whom located their world or German headquarters here. In fact, the Porsche badge, as seen on the front of Porsche cars has this town's name in the centre of the badge, something that is unique amongst the world's vehicle makers. A theory even suggests that also the Ferrari logo "Cavallino Rampante" had its origin in the Stuttgart coat-of-arms. Stuttgart is the place where the motorbike and the four-wheeled automobile were invented (invented by Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, industrialised 1887 by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in their 1887 Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft), it's hence the starting point of the worldwide automotive industry. Such famous and prestigious brands as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Maybach are produced there. Also the very first prototypes of the eventual VW Beetle were fabricated in Stuttgart, based on a design by Ferdinand Porsche.

I like it paws. But I think to keep it like Stuttgart go right to left.

Doug's idea makes the most sense. Trying to combine the two implies (to me) that you're not an expert at either. Horse people don't care about your car habit and car people don't care about your horse habit (yes, i'm sure there are a few who are exceptions).

Using the horse from the crest is very subtle.

Some nice design work on this thread but I just don't think it's a smart move.

One other phrase that might find a home here...horses for courses.

You say you want an insignia for the farm, but how will it be used?
Sign at property entrance?
Business card?
Letterhead?
Vehicle lettering?

You mention that you already have a logo for the fabrication business and you also mention draft horses above.

The logo with the two line art pieces is confusing - do you have performance horses for jumping, performance horses for racing, performance cars, all of the above?

The overlapping shapes also will only work in two color where they are separated visually, it doesn't appear either of these would work as a one color print.

I think you would be better off using a single graphic, instead of forcing the two, or go in a different direction and play off the name for the graphic.

If you do this logo wrong, it will look like you work on both Ford Mustangs and Porsche's.
