Logo help
We are buying a small horse farm and I will be doing some fabrication work there also. We are trying to come up with a nice logo and here is the idea. Any thoughts?

I like it. The 911 silhouette looks cool. Long hood ;)
|
It should be a unicorn jumping over the 911 :p

I like the graphic, the font not so much. First of all, I don't know what fabrication that you do and your logo needs to tell that story. Horses and Porsches have nothing in common but the alliteration. Is your fab business strictly Porsche?
I could see the horse jumping over an anvil, but that will mean that you are a farrier to most. So, I guess the font and the actual name are going to be very important here to convey the message. Anyway, if you are into Porsche performance, at the very least try to incorporate the font into a lower body stripe like the Carrera RS. I'll give you an example of how I would try to integrate 2 elements in a logo. Let's say your biz is "Duck Feather's Flower Shop." I'd start off on a sketch pad with a bouquet in a duck vase. I'm still pondering what a "horsche" is. |
I kind of like it. Agree with Zeke the font could be easier to read. Here's a different take on the 911 silhouette. This one accentuates the hips more. -J

I would have the horse and the Porsche going in the same direction.
And make it left to right. I'm not a graphic designer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express. Oh wait, that's right, I am a graphic designer so don't take any advice that I give seriously. Hell, my clients never do! |
If you need help.....let me know.

I like the silhouttes, but the lines between the horse and car don't match. The lines forming the horse are much thicker and are more in the style of of a preparatory sketch (I forgot the proper word for the free hand sketch you draw before you draw or paint the final work) while the car has thinner lines that come together more deliberately and look more like a final study. But I do really like both forms. The lines and styles are close but don't quite match. I'd put the car silhouette into the style of the horse, with more lines and loking less like a finsihed, modern design study. The hores looks like something from a cave painting and captures the spririt and form of a wild horse perfectly. I'd keep that style and modify the car to match.
The font is too modern for the drawings, but that's an easy fix. You need to simplify the name. It has one too many syllables and one too many esses. Also, be careful with the apostrophe. Is Duck Feather someone who has Horches (Duck Feather's Horches) or do duck feathers describe the horches (Duck Feathered Horches). The way you use it, Duck Feathers must be the name of your property. It's a pretty name. You should be able to use it. Just keep it simple and minimize the esses so that the name rolls off your tongue easily. |
Good point on the apostrophe MRM. It's all wrong.

Looks like the horse is schitting on the car... Sorry, but.....
|
That porsche font sucks with it never mind.

Sorry. Just pointing out what I saw in a cursory glance.
I wouldn't propose that to one of our clients... But hell what do I know, I only work in the sign biz... |
I think I'm on my period Sid.:cool:

We've all been there. ;) No hurt feelings.
Happen to have a nail sticking out of your forehead? |
The original design was best. The car has to be coming at the horse and the horse has to be jumping the car. Otherwise visually you're left with the sense that the horse is running the same direction as the car and it's going to land on the car when it jumps. The design has to incorporate the combined space of the front of the horse over the hood of the car or else you're going to have too large of a logo.
But I do like the more sketchy lines of the car matching the lines of the horse in the later figures. |
Paging Foxpaws.......
She has a good eye for graphic design and helped me with mine! |
I just flipped things around before I saw what other people were doing.
Looks like there is a pattern here. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370207979.jpg |
Yet another alternate trying to tie it altogether.

I still don't get what the message is to impart. Logos do a lot of subliminal things.
The horse could be faintly superimposed inside the 911 lines kinda like that montage awhile back that had all the models appear ghost like within the 991. If the horse was a .gif with the animation it would definitely say "horsepower" or "wild" But until we get insight as to what the enterprise is, we're only poking around. |
What's a "Horsche" anyway?
|
WOW guys. Great ideas and info.
To start with I just pasted and copied some silhouettes I found online, real quick like. Really haven't had a chance to work on it. Just wanted to get the idea down on paper (or saved in .jpegs). This is just a hobby farm for my wife's horses and I'll be doing fab work on P-cars in my spare time. So, I combined Horses and Porsches. Now I see that is a mistake. I'm thinking I should just put the name, Duck Feathers and maybe stables or farm or ???? BTW- to explain Duck Feather's, My wife's name is Heather and I'm Duke, when our god-children were young they called us Duck and Feather. I, too, think the horse should be jumping towards the car. But I also like the idea of imposing the horse inside the 911. Or maybe we can reverse that? Any more ideas and thoughts are appreciated. |

You seem to like Italics so try Eurobold Extended in Italic. That's as close to the PORSCHE script as you can get.
|
Actually Zeke, it's just what Paint has it set to. I'm trying to find a good looking, rustic font.
|
|
It's coming along. As you add to the horse in definition, so must you add to the 911. IMHO, of course.

I'm not sure how to add definition to the porsche. Do I make it Horses and Porsches, or horses and 911's, hooves and tires, or ??????? I think stables needs to be in there also. |
You know you love it
|
:)If they were draft horses I'd be all for it.
|
Something bothers me about the two figures looking like they're crashing into each other.
I think they should be moving in the same direction, and right to left. Same thing that many others have already said in this thread.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370244040.jpg |
|
Are you trying to promote the hobby farm with the logo, or the fabrication business?
|
Honestly, I would create two separate logos - one for each business. And separate names, separate advertising, etc.

über rough...
I would stay away from Porsche type lettering and I always think things moving from left to right seem more 'right'... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370282812.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370284553.jpg |
Fox, that first one you did is about as good as this concept can be done. Any more , or any less, and you get odd looking images.
