Paging Milt AKA Zeke AKA windowguy

Mr. Milt admonished me in a recent thread (that I had deleted) about buying new windows for my house without getting a bid from him (I know he does remodeling but didn't know he specialized in windows, my bad, had I known I would have checked with him.)

However wifey also wants a new front door and to pull up the carpet and put in (inexpensive) wood flooring.

I have hated the carpeting from day one and wanted to pull it up since I moved in some then years ago. I was planing on just picking up some cheap wood flooring at homeless depot and throwing it down myself.

So if anyone has super bargains on doors or flooring please let me (us) know.

Thanks in advance.

I didn't ask for your business. I said 10K for windows alone was red flag. You can price your own purchase right here. Some of the most expensive single family homes I did cost 6K+. You can PM me for any additional information or installation advice. I never solicit on the forums.

I'm all but retired anyway. Took the last of my tools out of the truck yesterday.

No, but I bought a pristine 2006. I don't know if I want to use it for construction or groceries.

I offered to let him give me a price on new doors and windows for my house a few years ago and the 50 miles or so from Long Beach to my house off the I-5 didn't pencil out for him. So I'm guessing Orygun doesn't work financially either.

He can make a wooden camper shell with french doors on the back and a plastic bubble on the roof. And one of those hanging plant things with roll-out astro-turf. Viola! Beats the La Quinta Inn any day, and drive clear up to B.C. or Alaska if the mood strikes.

And there is a reason I advised you to work something out with a more local installer — service, if needed. You don't want someone a million miles away if you have a trivial problem, or even a more serious problem.

I did, however, provide you with the same link to my distributor for price comparison. A lot of window sales people will walk a house and 'estimate" $1000 per opening and sit down and try to sell it without line by line pricing. They could EASILY come down 10% and hit a home run. I never did that.

Windows are priced by the sq. ft. of area plus a more or less flat installation fee per.
