Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer Shelf Life

I have some unopened Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer that must be 5 years old. Would this have a shelf life?

I have a can of it. Yep a metal can. I got it out of my dad's garage. It is like having a can of oil, not something just everyone has. I have no idea if it is any good.

As an aside, I added it to a gallon of gas six months ago and tried to run it in my new ECHO weedwacker, didn't run worth a crap. I guess the ECHO likes fresh gas being a two stroke. The stabil I put in the gas can for the Honda four stroke generator seems to run fine after six months.

Q: What is the shelf life of STA-BILŪ Fuel Stabilizer?
A: The shelf life of all STA-BILŪ brand products is 2 years after the bottle has been opened, provided it has been tightly capped and stored in a cool, dry place. If the product has not yet been opened, you should use the color of the fluid as an indicator. If the product is still bright red, it is fine to use. If the product has turned to av ery dark red (or brown) color, we recommend purchasing a new bottle. It will not harm anything if you use an old bottle of STA-BILŪ brand, it just may not be as effective.

I also have a 1 gallon can of Coleman fuel unopened, This was my dad's and he said it was from 1974 ?????????? So I need to find some STA-BILŪ Fuel Stabilizer Stabilizer?

Coleman fuel needs to be fresh esp. for use in the cold - commonly, mountaineers will buy fresh every season
