And for the ultimate in bling that makes the statement that you are a bad boy who drives hot cars...a BRM chrono! Sorry this is only a link...I evidently need to go to cut & paste school. http://www.brm-manufacture.com/GB/The-whole-Bernard-Richards-Manufacture-collection-of-BRM-watches-V6-V7-V8-V9-V12-V14-S44-GP44-No_4.htm

I still wear my 1996 "Bond" Seamaster Pro almost daily and it still looks and works great... I would wear the Speedmaster Moon watch a lot more if it didn't have an acrylic crystal. I try to wear it it out whenever I'm meeting with my NASA customer type people as a conversation starter. Definitely an Omega fan (although I 'only' have 3). Curses on whoever revives this thread from time to time (sic) as the big 4-0 birthday is coming up and I don't need any more temptations re. exorbitant presents for myself... I still think a Zenith would be cool, though.

I have to say Ebay was a cool place to pick up some watches for a bit. Money was short, and the watches might not have been brandy new and perfect, they were fine (esp if buying vintage like I do, LOL) for wearing then selling to try something new. So many watches............so little time!

Jake, your old Breitling is awesome! I guess you can still buy them with confidence on eBay since they were made before people could really make perfect fakes.

True! And you can't fake the patina too well either. And some of those neat old watches are only a few hundred. And of course, there are tricks to buying on ebay, which aren't as effective as in the good old days of the 90s, LOL.

The 90s on ebay was a bonanza. I was picking up Cal 321 Omega Speedmasters for $500 to $600 weekly. Got one of each year from 1960 to 1970 at one point. Then grad school happened and i sold them all for about $1000 each...now they are $1500+ if you could find them

Let's revive this again. Here's my latest one. But I am lusting after a Sinn now. I will have one. I wish they were easier to find in the US. I may have to wait until I go to Europe next. If anyone here is selling one, keep me in mind.

Guess I like to keep things simple...but all these watch threads got me inspired enough to buy this:

Among other inspirations, this thread and other watch threads on Pelican got me thinking about getting a "nice" watch. This arrived today:

I'm a big fan of Sinn! Found a 356 with sapphire crystal on eBay and bought the stainless bracelet from the US distributor - wear it almost every day! Very easy to read and not too big (around 38mm). I bought a 656 on eBay and gave it to my son for Christmas - he loves that one too. Sinn 356 Sapphire Sinn 656 | ||

Now I'm dying to get a Sinn. There are maybe 10 on eBay now. I'll check out the German eBay.
