Lift-gate truck rentals - needa lift gate asap

I need a truck with a lift-gate asap.

Just bought a smallish, older SELECT vertical milling machine from an Estate Sale about 6 miles away.

Calling around truck rental places here, none of them appear to have lift-gates.

Know any places that do? U-Haul and Home Despot rentals are a no for gates.

I thought of a Piano movign company, but they're all closed today.... who takes Sunday of?!?

I've got till Wednesday at the latest to get this moved.

I could go the ramp option, but it would be a major PITA...
But the Home Despot parking lot might have the muscle power...

Send a message via AIM to stomachmonkey
May just pay to have a freight company move it for you.

Piano movers is a good idea - that's who I used to move my South Bend Heavy 10 from old to new house (about 15 miles)

I just moved a scissor lift for the garage (1600 lbs) and used some 1/2" black iron pipe to use as rollers and the winch on the tow truck to slide it onto the deck of the truck.

Brought a couple of big 5 foot pinch bars when I picked it up to move the lift around.
Maybe wont work for the mill...

You mentioned Home Depot for muscle.... you may also check there for a truck.
Our local HD has a lift gate truck for rent. Not cheap... $40 per hour.

Wooo I found a truck with a 1500 pound lift gate. $40, and 59 cents per mile.
Not bad.. maybe a 15 mile round trip total.

Now to find some extra muscles.

Enterprise and Penske rent trucks with liftgates.

Also...a rollback tow truck can be a pretty good deal to move something odd like this. Especially if you find the little guy that digs CASH!

Find a drop deck trailer to rent. I thought about buying a business from a guy who specialized in moving industrial machines. This is what he used:

He had winches on his and would basically drag the equipment onto the trailer. He made it look easy.

How close it to the size of a Bridgeport? Bridgeport's are approx. 2,000 lb's (depending on model). A tow truck boom will pick up 3500 lb. easy. My mill is around 4,000 lb and the tow truck seemed to struggle a bit.

That is probably the coolest trailer I've ever seen. How much weight can it haul, I guess "lift" also?

I built a overhead crane for the back of my car hauler for just this purpose. I will use the 6,000 lbs. winch to lift anything heavy onto it.

I'm thinking of adding a 3,000 lbs winch I have around here to the trailer so I can lift and pull forward at the same time.
