Mac book laptop ML install problem

Ok, I decided to install ML on my wife's Mac Book, (1 year old) and created a thumb drive of ML from my MBP. When I tried to do the install i get an error message that ML has incurred a problem and will not install. This happens when the install is almost completely done, like a minute left. At this stage all I want to do is abort the ML install and get back to Snow Leopard if possible. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this. Fortunately I did an update on SL before making the install of ML and also did a back up (of her HD) to external drive using time machine.

I can't get out of the ML install mode at this time. When I get the error message the machine seems to lock up so I turn it off and when I turn it back on it immediately goes to ML install and starts the install process again. Any way to cancel the install?

I need help, she is not a happy camper.

Disregard at this point. I tried the install a second time and it worked, not always the case with these things. I have already checked and everything is still there so nothing lost and it is now doing and update of ML and iPhoto.

I'm officially out of panic mode for now.
