National Geographic Photos - Unpublished

Stumbled on this:

http://natgeofound.tumblr.com/

Photos of the Day

National Geographic magazine has published thousands of the world’s most striking photographs over the years, but if you think about it, the ones they published are only the tip of the iceberg. The magazine’s archives contained many thousands of photos that had never seen the light of day. So they decided to make some of them available online. It is a remarkable collection. The oldest date to the late nineteenth century; the newest are quite recent. Most are in color, some in black and white. They were taken all over the world.

Hong Kong in 1934. Study this picture for a few moments and you feel like you are in a noir film:

Thanks for the link and photo, Paul.

One could spend some serious time browsing that site.

Ours was one of the many households who received National Geographic magazine throughout the year....and thus opened up the world to several sets of young and curious eyes.

Those photos show such a simpler time in the 50's-60's. A time lost forever...

Took a while, but I finally made it to the end. Then I thought... the vast majority of the people I just saw in those photos are now dead!

Two brand new Mercs, a Ford woody, and I think that green thing is a Lincoln? Ford publicity shot?

Sightseers park to watch a Stratocruiser taxi across an underpass in Queens, New York, March 1951.

Try doing that today!
