Parenting observation....
As my kids get older I'm starting to see a disturbing trend. Parents using 'let the kids work it out' as cover for letting their kids be total dicks to other kids.
Often the kid in question will have some other issues and I have to wonder if 'let the kids work it out' is just another way of saying 'I don't want my kid suffering socially so I'll passively endorse a certain amount of aggressive/bullying behaviour'. Sad to see. God forbid a parent actually corrects their child and takes an active role in teaching them. Job security for future PARF mods I guess.

I agree with your observation. I find parents that set none or very limited boundaries for their kids behavior utterly disturbing. In my occupation I experience it every day. I have actually a guessing game with myself and my colleagues. Its very common that we can estimate the kids behavior from judging their parent ditto. The apple and the tree and all that.
