You mean like outlawing certain currently-owned firearms, such as bullet-button AR-15's? They're trying. I expect to see it happen in the next ten years or so.

Thats coming to NJ real soon. The list of banned weapons isn't final yet but will include most semi-autos.

Right now the Gov is considering signing legislation that will require us to surrender our FID and have that info embedded into our drivers licences. That'll create a state database.

You do know that the national guard, in the wake of hurricane Katrina, confiscated people's firearms?

You know about the NJ state legislator that was caught on tape this year saying: "We need a bill that will confiscate, confiscate, confiscate." ?

You know about the Kalifornia law that raids the DROS funds for confiscation?

You know about the law pending in the KA legislature that will prohibit anyone with a DUI from owning a gun?

You know that medical MJ prescriptions may be used to prohibit ownership?

Unfortunately, it's not irrational to believe that confiscation is coming. It may be far off, I don't know.

Cite? The National Guard may have confiscated some few peoples' firearms, but did they go door to door colecting everyones' guns without even a peep? Is New Orleans now gun free? Katrina was a state of emergency, wherein the government can for short periods do all kinds of things, like commandeer your car or boat.

I bet hundreds of legislators have said it over the years. Along with a jillion other stupid things. I wish I had a nickel for every idiotic thing Sarah Palin said.

I know of no place called "Kalifornia." A state called Califonia uses DROS as a dealer registration form. I don't know what raiding "DROS funds for confiscation" means. What funds? Who is "raiding" them? What does that have to do with gun confiscation?

It's pending. So are hundred of pieces of legislation bottled up in congres by CRepublican filibusters. So what? And . . . Does it call for confiscation? Felons can't own guns either.

Here's a handy tip: don't get a DUI.

What are "MJ prescriptions?" At any rate that is not confiscation. In WA, you cannot get a CCP if you have been adjudged to be mentally unsound or have been prohibited by a judge from owning a firearm. Nothing new.

It's completely irrational. First of all, it's literally impossible from a practical standpoint. Pandora has left her box. Second, the cost would be over-the-top prohibitive. Third, many people would be unwilling to surrender their guns, and the government would not want the civil unrest that would be the result of any such attempt. Fourth, it's unconstitutional, and likely to remain that way.

Finally, and most importantly, why would "the government" (whoever that means) even bother? What would be the objective, and what possible good would it do?

I've been hearing about imminent confiscation my whole life. Nothing of the sort has happened. Now it's been blown up by constant hysteria from Rush, Beck, and Fox News, purely for ratings purposes. Scaring stupid people sells.

It's not blown up. You just chose to trust people in government versus people not in government. You want to trust them, fine. I don't.

Cite? Go look it up yourself. At a time when citizens needed to protect themselves the most, the "authorities" were disarming them. Go watch the video of the old lady getting tackled by cops in her kitchen after Katrina. Maybe that will change your mind.

What difference does it make to you if people are afraid and buying guns? How does this bother you? So what if someone is so worried that they buy guns, and MREs, and water, and plan for when the SHTF? What business of it is yours? Sit back, relax and laugh about how smart you are compared to them. That you didn't waste your time, effort, money, talents, or treasure on such fruitless pursuits. That you didn't buy into the whole "zombie apocalypse" thing 'cause yer so smart. If nothing happens, nothing happens, and a bunch of red necks just bought up a whole mess 'o guns for no reason. What does it matter to you?

DROS fees. Go educate yourself on their intended usage, and now how the funds are being raided.

DUI ≠ felony.
Marijuana use ≠ felony

How low do you want to lower the bar to deny someone their constitutional rights? Dude, you smoked a J, no voting or free speech for you dude!

Lastly, the KA legislature is not the congress. It's single party rule with a super majority. There is no filibuster, grid-lock, bottled up anything in Suckramento. It's all what they think they can get away with under the cover of a friendly media. They will do what they want.

As for your Sarah Palin comment - show me one quote where she discussed ANYTHING having to do with taking away anyone's specifically enumerated protections from the Bill of Rights. Anything! She's not the brightest knife on the tree (yes, I find it funny to mix my metaphors), but she's not as daft as that hag from Jersey.

OK the cat's out of the bag. :o Here's the story... I was born at a young age, my Mother was away at the time...:D

OK OK... I have a Mosin Nagant modle 91-30 that I want to make into a sniper model. I went to see Dave and he did his damnnest to help me out. There seems to be an issue with tapping the receiver to accept the scope mount. He's asked a few 'smiths to help and basiclly they've declined. One + One equaled Neil :D. Dave told me you were coming up to Pa. the same weekend I was coming up and thought you might be up to a challenge.

I want to thank you in advance for you help, seriously for maybe even thinking about taking on the job. We'll discuss Saturday, and looking forward to meeting you Neil.

Just as I suspected, Kaos, you have no evidence to support anything you said. You're just regurgitating what the fear mongers are pumping into your terrified little head. "Look it up yourself" = "I have no evidence."

First it was cops confiscating guns after Katrina. No evidence there, so switch the subject to police beating up an old lady. What, no link to the video? How surprising. Similarly, no cites to anything else you spewed. Why? Because they aren't true.

And, typical of Cons, you assume I'm anti-gun. I put 100 rounds through my Ruger LCR yesterday, and am tying to decide whether the Sig Sauer 229 I'm going to buy this week will be a 9mm or a .40. I prefer the .40, but 9mm ammo is so much cheaper, and I shoot a lot. Not, however, because I'm the slightest bit worried about the government. The same reason I drive real fast on race tracks. Because it's fun.

I have no idea who the hag from New Jersey is that you are referring to (Governor Christie, maybe?)

I wish I knew why you Cons are all so bed-wettingly afraid all the time. Do you all have to use rubber sheets?

Back on track...

NCIS checks are not a good indication of gun sales or even interest. In most states, once you have a CCW you don't require another background check for your next purchase. Even in CT, once you have a CCW you do not need a background check to purchase. Interestingly, you can't purchase a handgun in CT without a CCW, but once you have your CCW, there is no background check or two week waiting period.

Even with one here in Va you get a check, cops get checked, you don't buy a gun here without getting a check. Pain in the rump but far better than the consequences.

Only if you go through an FFL. I've done plenty of legal parking lot deals in VA, once or twice with cops.

My last gun purchase involved a computerized check that took, from start to finish, about 20 minutes, from the time I walked into the store til I walked out with my new gun.

I've waited longer at a busy Starbucks.

This is the long version on CNN. You need to fast forward to 1:24 to get the story.

CNN / Katrina: (P)olice (S)tate (G)oons Assault Old Lady - YouTube

If you weren't so lazy and naive you would have found this yourself.
