Why don't you go back over there late at night and beat the crap out of it with a baseball bat?...it's so bad.
Sheesh!

My apologies for coming off so harsh.
I have met many Abarth owners here in the valley and have heard nothing but praise about their cars.
There are many, many Abarths here.
Just recently at an Autozone, an off-duty cop showed up w/his wife's Abarth and we talked for an hour. He also has an Abarth and loves it.
I have close to 6k miles on my '13 and zero defects so far. I love this little rig.
Solid as can be. Very strong and great mpg. But I don't hammer it.
Again, sorry for my what appeared as sarcasm. 'Caught me at a nasty time, I'd guess.
Best to you!

Mine is still running strong with no issues and I still love driving it! As reliable as can be and couldn't be more happy with it. Glad I got lucky and didn't end up with one of those lemons....

Cant wait to hear from you guys after the 30,000 mile mark.................Hope you have better luck then I.

gsmith660 10-27-2014 09:43 AM

No worries Don the one we had was a 2012 with 1500 miles on it and it started having issues almost immediately and I could have dealt with that except for the lack of support from the dealer and the crash test rating came out and it did horrible so it made both my wife and me nervous about it being our daughters first car

I bought a AAA 10 yr., 70,000 mile warranty when I bought mine.
"Total coverage." $50 to transfer to new owner if/when I sell.
And I will ......with a year left on the warranty.
$900 - and I can have anyone service the vehicle.
We'll see.
So far, I love this little Pit Bull! Not much I don't like about it.
'Wish the instrument panel was white instead of black. Can't see it in daylight while wearing sunglasses.

46,000 miles here and only oil changes so far, drive the snot out of it and pray i guess.

Your splitters have not tried to fall off?
You do not go though tires like ice cream?
No coolant leaks?
your tire check lights behave?
You are going great then.
i could go on...............LOL

I wonder if your going through tires is a result of just driving the car as it is.
It's a hot little number, you know. Did yours come with 205/40ZR17 Pirelli P Zero Nero?
No coolant leaks here...and I'm in AZ - Scottsdale.
And my tire check lights tell me that a tire is 29.6 lbs. and another is 30.1, etc.
I just figure it's time to fill them...check them with a dial indicator.
I must say, rather baffling that you guys have had so much trouble.
I've not heard any of this from those with whom I've spoken.
Again, my Abarth has been flawless.
What a pain. Sorry to hear.

I am not here to rain on your parade . I am glad it works for you, truly.
I just drive the car as a mostly a grocery get er
Like i said with busted shifter brackets ,( over 3 weeks at dealer cause thy could not order the part from anywhere) endless bald tires, and now rear wheel bearings......
On and on I could go.
These things could have been addressed and fixed.
If they had been, it would have been a great car.
However they have been less then caring, and along with "fiat of america" whom i have had endless conversations with.
To be fair, they did make most the monthly payment for me when it sat in the shop for almost a month....
They have a big cooperate attitude, and just too ivory towered for me.
After they sold the car to me they treat me like a scornfully like i am a moron. Or perhaps a hooker. LOL
*(They would not loan me a car either !(
i used to own a couple repair shops, i am no dummy and i understand problems.
In the end it is "HOW" they are addressed that is important.
They choose to ignore and leave me to rot.
I will make a big Styrofoam Lemon painted yellow, put it on top and drive this dam thing around before too long.

* I asked several times.

The other myth with the adolescent crowd is somehow they are driving around in a poor mans Ferrari.
Back in real life it has not much to do with Italy ! (Thank god)
The fiat we get in america is made in MEXICO ! LOL

I once took a 850 apart.........One can either call the oil pump workings - genius, or or the works of a mad scientist on LSD.............

MJHanna 10-28-2014 07:35 AM

mine

I've go one turned 50k on it last week. Has it had issues sure, but they have been taken care of by my dealer. A lot of the complaints listed here are about the dealer not the car. Do I go through tires , yes but so do my Porsches, after a couple of sets I went with a tire that has a 45k mileage warrenty, my last replace set cost me $225.00 BFD... I also go through front brake pads, whatever.. I run the snout out of it and its FUN to drive.

The one we had got a really wicked shimmy that the dealer wouldn't even take a look at. Does the dealer have anything to do with a decision to keep a car or not YOU BETCHA! By the way the reason the dealer became an issue is because the car had issues all by itself and it wasn't being driven hard because the main drivers were my wife and my daughter on her learners permit.

Evidently the English carmakers are very jealous of the fix-it-again-Tony for stealing what they consider their award. How much does the L model have in common with the HEY-BART?

EDIT: did a search, pretty much the same car with 2 extra doors.

Consumer Reports names Fiat 500 L least reliable car
Published October 28, 2014
(Fiat)
Consumer Reports has named the Fiat 500 L the least reliable car on sale today.
The compact crossover received the lowest score in the organization’s annual owner survey, while Fiat came in last overall among brands.

Respondents noted a litany of issues ranging from a rough-shifting automatic transmission to poor heating and an unimpressive infotainment system.

Ironically, whether it’s coincidental or the cause of its apparent woes, the 500 L is manufactured at a Fiat factory in Serbia that once produced the Yugo GV, considered by many to be one of, if not the worst car ever sold in the United States.

Fiat has spent approximately $1.5 billion updating the facility, but reviews of the 500 L regularly cite its low-quality feel.
