Do I go through tires , yes but so do my Porsches, after a couple of sets I went with a tire that has a 45k mileage warrenty, my last replace set cost me $225.00 BFD... I also go through front brake pads, whatever.. I run the snout out of it and its FUN to drive.

What tires? And from whom did you buy?

Do they not do the prorate game and win in the end?
What tire is it? (like interstate Batt.)

2 sets of tires in 50k miles I would say that is an issue for sure. Least reliability and lowest safety rating and has wear issues this car is batting a 1000 LOL.

afterburn 549 10-29-2014 05:59 AM

Like i said,, - I go through a set of tires every 10 K!
There is 3/4 tow in "set" built into the rear axle. They will not fix it.
I have given them enough time..Now i have to get out the torch and do some bending
Like said over and over -the would be great little car - but it is buck naked off the line, no support like a ugly child.

With the 45k warranty and you only get 10-15k out of them YOU win the prorate game. I buy tires like doughnuts so it not that big of thing, Porsche 911s usually get 10-15 on rears what the difference O Yeah the size on the ABARTH are a fraction of the cost.
PS: The 500L is NOT an ABARTH that’s like comparing a Cayenne to a Cayman.

I have the Abarth with 17" wheels . Not a cheap tire.
The Porsche keeps going through tires for good reason, not the the fiat.
If it had all 4 wheels pointed in the same direction it would help a lot !

My runs 205 /40/17 which I belive are the same as yours.
Tire rack sells them for $130 each. My last trailer tire cost more than that.

I dont think getting it aligned will help your tire consumption, It will still go through tires IMO, I don’t like the fact that brakes are on average around 200 for just the fronts……If this was just a normal run of the mill Fiat 500 I would not be happy, but then I would not like to own one…. I guess I accept the costs as part of the price to make my ugly commute bearable and being engaged in driving vs all the people I pass that are texting, talking, eating, ignoring what their primary responsibility is…..paying attention to what you are doing , that is DRIVING. I love that it snorts and pops and I have to work it sometimes to make it move. It requires me to be engaged. It’s like driving an old 911 with real air conditioning. I point it and it squirts through traffic.

If I buy at tire Rack then i get raped with a tire change bill as no one here like these 17" wheels and they tell me so.
Last Fall i put on snows and left them on. It was the smartest thing i ever did. ! They went One complete year ! But all bald now... But i did get out of a tire change in the springl

I have 17x7 wheels on my Miata and got 215-40-17 tires. Near as I can tell, there is no downside at all. Better ride, wider tire, just full of win.

A car today should have zero issues up to 50k or even 100k. Only regular maintenance. Glad your dealer fixed things, but you still wasted time you would have spent doing something fun or productive otherwise.

Have you checked out Discount Tire?

BF Goodrich G-Force A/S for $99 each or Sport Comp for $103 or Kumho AST for $50 a pop on the cheap.

Tire Products By Vehicle - Discount Tire

My Mini Cooper S goes through a set of Bridgestone Potenza's around 20,000 miles, mostly due to my lead food around curves:-D

Your right next time I'm at the Porsche dealership and I go talk to my friends that work in the shop I’ll point out to them that all the cars that they are "fixing other than just maintenance is not acceptable":eek:
Now you know why I don’t post a lot not worth the time to get in petty arguments …….. back to lurking.
:D
