Time Interval for ATF change?
Should I change my ATF if it is 5 years old but only has a few thousand miles on it?
The spec. for changing it is 30,000 (on one car) and longer than that for others. No spec. for time is given. |

I don't think I would even go that long. 3 years maybe if I lived someplace humid.

My Chevy HHR has a "sealed" automatic transmission and no dip stick! They say to change it in normal use at 90K. Dealer cost is a bit over $200 now and that is 7 QTs of Dexron VI, filter and gasket and their time. I did mine last Monday and the only hassle is no drain plug so I used a very large plastic under bed storage box that has wheels. Took about 1 1/2 hours including drain time and saved a bunch of $$$$.
Soooo, I'd say if you do lots of stop and go driving as I do, I would change it and get that piece of mind feeling. |
