All I know is that it's 78 deg w/ a cool breeze today and everyone on the east coast and Midwest is screaming bloody murder on FB about the heat. So we've got that.

At 113 degrees, downtown L.A. hits all-time record high [Updated] - latimes.com Sammy - why not pick something harder to check when you make these sorts of posts? I know math isn't really your "thing" but 113 > 110 |

Yeah, well we're paying for the upgrades and I suspect the shut down of San Onofre. They supposedly have a $2.8B fund for decommissioning the plant, but I suspect Sempra Energy will make rate payers pay for it instead even with the politicians crowing about our rates not being raised to pay for it. I just got a letter not too long ago from them saying the rates are going up in September. According to it, if your bill is $100/mo. it will go up to $115/mo. If it's $250/mo. it will go up to $325/mo. Since my place is all electric, I hit a couple of winter (when nights get down into the 20's & low 30's) months over $400 and one of those over $450, so you can imagine what their premium will be on that.

I always hate to bring a thread back on topic, but the point is that natural Gas based power plants were able to ramp up to meet load demands, and are saving money in general -- all with lower greenhouse gas emissions than coal fired plants. Not to mention the output of neuro-toxins from coal plants.

We could produce a lot more if the demand was higher. CNG is up a $1.19 per gallon at the local stations.
