The Movie: Master and Commander
Watching it on BBC America. I worked on it at the Fox tank in Baja. I thought this was an amazing scene.

GREAT scene from a great movie...just watched it on BBC as well.
The book is less than the movie, which is unusual. |
Loved the movie, Hugh.
|
The music in the movie is terrific...the viola is beautiful.

Yep

I have pics embedded in a Word Document (can't find the originals on my computer) that I'd like to paste, we had an amazing Pratt and Whitney jet engine for generating "fog", mineral oil that could fill the entire area, the size of the Rose Bowl in about 30 seconds with "fog" where you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. . I right click and it says "Copy" I go to the desktop and "paste" isn't highlighted. Any suggestions?

Great Movie, Great Topic, Great Music.
So my Pandora Station today is Classic Solo Piano, with YoYo Ma playing from the score for Casualties of War. Crappy Movie, beautiful Score. |
it is one of my all time favorites.
|
I think this was the first movie that convinced me Russ can act (since Romper-Stomper anyway).
|
Outstanding movie!
|
Saw it in the theater when it first came out - in fact the first showing.
Have since watched it on TV several times over. I agree - excellent movie! That part when they let the raft out behind them with a light on it was very cool. Plus the Galapagos Islands segment. Good job, Hugh! |
Very cool movie. I met a guy online, is that the right term?, that was involved with some of the naval bits for the movie. Seems like a cool gig.
|
One of my top ten.
|
Definitely a favorite of mine.

Years ago they showed the making of Master and Commander and interviewed Russell Crowe and the Director. Crowe was terrifed of heights and struggled to climb up to the crows mast on the main mast, but he got through it. They made the fighting sequences as authentic as possible down to the hand to hand combat scenes and sword fighting techniques. It was indeed an outstanding movie and one I watch often. As a sailor myself its always interesting to focus on the sailing on this man of war, especially when they are running down wind and hauling ass like, "smoke and oak".

Jaw dropping sound on that movie, all around.:D |
It was a great movie! I think there are around 20 books in the Patrick OBrian series, of which this one is a adaptation of one of the middle ones. Cant imagine life before the mast. (And even aft!) Lesser of two weevils, indeed!

Fazmid.........................works everytime.

I like to show the opening gun battle to friends in our media room. As has been said the soundtrack is amazing. I've probably watched it 10-15 times since it came out and I never get tired of it.
Several years back there was talk of another movie but I guess that isn't going to happen. |
