A better mousetrap

Every time I set a mouse trap, a squirrel eats the bait.

Every time I set a squirrel trap, a mouse eats the bait.

Good thing I'm smarter than both of them.

And look... it includes a chip to record it all... although I don't see where it is to be inserted.

That should do it, Chris. I wonder why the cage's circumferential bars are more tightly spaced on the far end?

This thing works. After it catches the ground squirrel it goes right into the pool. My garden is doing well.

Most animals I do not dislike. They just need to be prompted to relocate.

Chased three big groundhogs from the small back yard a few years ago.
They located there, despite two hunter cats and a dog.

Groundhogs, like Ted Nugent, do not compromise.

The natural reflex of the trapped animal is to move away from the trap door when it slams shut. Then they push, gnaw, scratch and otherwise try to escape. Me thinks the smaller spacing gives 1) more strength to the trap and 2) smaller openings to prevent the animal from entangling itself. I've seen rabbits nearly destroy their mouths and noses trying to get out.

Mousetraps do not work on chipmunks. It just scares the bejeezus out of them and thereafter ultimatley renders the traps useless on the little buggers because they're smart.

My advice - use a dab or peanut butter and then either a cheeto or dorito (nacho cheese suggested) as bait for the mouse trap.

Peanut butter, a pumpkin seed, a popcorn seed, and a peanut.

Thanks Moss. He was a wild cat who was down on his luck, so I started feeding him and now we are best buddies.

You do not want to trap a squirrel in that cage. Most animals give up and sleep. Squirrels go crazy...

It makes it more difficult for critters to reach in to grab the bait.
