Happy Anniversary Apollo 11.
Can't believe no one here from the States has brought this up.
44 years ago today the greatest achievement in all history, accomplished. 44years later Denouemant...sad. |
And I remember exactly where I was when Neil Armstrong took the first step to the moon.
|
America's finest decade. To their own simple common citizens, to countrymen and historians.
Why was the goal first decided? Why was the greatest accomplishment achieved? Because there were mostly military men in charge. Great men and disciplined. Gone...as the recent Space Program. |

On Febuary 25 1994 while having at least 15 minutes one to one with Edgar Mitchell, he told me this. And man, I so agree. |
What about your thoughts on the moon landing?
|
I thought it was a success because we got the better Germans out of the remains of the Third Reich.
And when did NASA become a military organization? |
Growing up in Huntsville, we were very proud. All of MSFC and Redstone was in celebration for weeks.

Will write again. You need to be aquainted with some pulp. I can bet your knowledge and what you said are almost quoting the movie -THE RIGHT STUFF-. It was very fortunate for the Americans and the free countries that Korolov died. Korolov was 10 times smarter than Braun. It would have been perhaps a different life today for all of us if Korolov had lived. Anyways, the thought of walking on the moon is so surreal today. Ahh, the good old advanced futuristic technology of the past. Wonder why America is so happy with their electronic toys yet can be so stupid to accept their absolute fall. |
You see, those people that created the climax of America are gone.
The ones in place have no experience of the ones that are gone or who have been swept away. They are NOT of the SAME BREED. |

[QUOTE=porwolf;7560995]I was in Santa Barbara with friends and we were cementing a small retaining wall. The wife called: Come quick they just landed on the moon. So we went in to watch it on a black and white TV. After that we put our names, date and the event into the wet cement at the top for prosperity. Even the family dog was eternalised with name and paw print.[/QUOT
That's great! Have you been back to that wall? I figure because its been awhile you possibly have moved on. Thanks. Pride ruled then. Well deserved. |
Mike, I Have pics of Von Braun with Kennedy and Johnson when they toured MSFC. Yes, America was proud, our entire city was filled with greatness and discovery then. So many of the aerospace giants were there, and we just knew we'd make it to the moon in that decade.
