we have wives to deal with, every time she sees it I get a comment.......is that crap really needed?

Firefox + AdBlock = no banners.

Creative use of /etc/hosts or c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and no ads either :)

Although I do see some interesting stuff when I turn on my "random ad" - I change a null route to local host and have my dev instance of Apache serve up a random image from my home directory...

At work, there are no ads (our system shuts down EVERYTHING). At home, I don't care about ads. They're on every site you visit, so I've learned to not even notice them.

Yes, what have you been looking at....my ads are for cars and car parts, dehumidifiers and generators.

Try this. Go to kmart.com or amazon and look up something specific. Go to amazon look for the same stuff.

BTW, if he clears history and cookies will this clear out these customized ads to get more generic ads?

Not sure how this was done but one day I check something on Amazon and the next day I got an e-mail for the same product from EBay...

I truely don't watch ” those types of things” on my phone.......the screen is too small......could this be triggered by YouTube videos/other peoples sites? I understand how this **** works now......just don't see why its only on pelican that shows up.....the handful of other forums I visit have similar banners and never once have I been offered a mail order bride lol

To be fair, you may get these even if you have never been to one of these sites but because you fit some demographic. For instance, they probably know you are male because of the car part shopping or on pelican or looking at car stuff. Now suddenly it all about viagra and mail order brides....
