There's an exception to every rule. My 1970 Vette exception.

I don't normally take on unfinished projects from other shops but this was an exception. One of my more active Porsche customers needed help finishing a job that was started by another shop. The car came to me in boxes and bags. The frame had been powdercoated and the body had already been painted. It's been five years start to finish with a couple periods of stagnation while other issues took my attention away from it.

1970 Vette all numbers matching 390 hp. 454 ci automatic with a/c. Donnybrook Green with green interior.

It was a COPO purchased by the owner of a Santa Monica Chevy dealer for his wife(hence the automatic).

That era was a pretty good one for the Vettes wasn't it? I like the older styling better than the modern ones.....

Nice job Kev!

Very nice

Oh Haha 08-15-2013 06:28 PM

Sweet! I have nothing against Corvettes, especially this era.

Nice! However I see a blemish. Opps, it was schmutz on my screen, nevermind.

When did they drop the stingray name? I was under the impression that only '68 and '69 models were still called Stingrays.

HardDrive 08-15-2013 06:37 PM

I like anything pre 73 when they still had chrome bumpers.

Yeah - same rule of thumb as for MG's!

And wire wheels on the MGs,

I don't think 69s had it, in 70 it was moved up to the fenders.

1975. Stingray 15 model years where the names Corvette, Sting Ray, and Stingray were synonymous.

A 454/390 automatic required a COPO? Seems odd. Nice job, BTW!

Correction: The C2 was the Sting Ray (two words)

Small distinction, I know... but important to those who love the C2. :)

Would require the growth of mutton-chop sideburns to properly complete the package.

Still want it?

ZOO 08-16-2013 04:31 AM

Gorgeous car. Early C3s are so much more attractive than the later ones.
