nostatic porsche fund
I just read Nostatic's post regarding fuel relays. I had to respond. The man reads parts catalogs. He doesn't own a Porsche and he reads parts catalogs and has posted on this board 800+ times. Obviously he is a true Porsche nut in every sense of the word. If anyone is deserved of a Porsche it is this man. So, why don't we all kick in some spare change and see if we can get Nostatic closer to his dream of Porsche ownership. Of course we do know that once he has a Porsche we will never hear from him again. He will be out driving and won't need this board or a parts catalog to fill the void.

I don't think nostatic's reason for not owning a Porsche has anything to do with lack of funds, and I don't think you'll find anybody willing to donate what he is really lacking.

Excellent point Bill. While my body rejected the original transplant, I'm trying some new hormone therapy to grow a new set.
The reason I asked about fuel relays is I have parts I bought from Pelican in anticipation of the car. I'm trying to see which ones I can still use in the event I end up getting something other than an SC (heresey I know). And sad to say, but other than the SC that I probably should have bought, there aren't any nice cars for sale in SoCal right now...at least not that I can find for anywhere near a reasonable price or condition. |

Yes, it must be REAL hard to find a Porsche in So Cal.

nostatic, everyone knows you buy something like this with a little uneasiness and then convince yourself you did the right thing AFTER you buy it... try that. |

Don't forget he already had a really nice one and gave it up after only owning it a few weeks. As others have stated his lack of 911 ownership is not financially related. In fact if I was a multi-millionaire who routinely smoked $100 dollar bills like cigars I wouldn't contribute even one penny to a nostatic p-car fund. That would be "enabling" him.
Instead of a fund we need an intervention. All in fun, he's a good guy.

When Nostatic first posted here, he proudly mentioned that he and his wife earn over $200,000 per year. He was looking at a 993, BMW M3, Audi... I think this is one cause I'll pass on.
As far as finding a car, I wanted a red turbo cab (maybe 400 total in the entire county) and I live in Wisconsin. Now that is a tough search. It took me all of a month looking on the internet, checking Pano and other mags as well as talking to car brokers, but I got the job done. |

I would put it in a more socially acceptible wording; he's "In between Porsches" right now...

I didn't "proudly" mention that...it was as a data point in response to queries about monetary factors.
I'm glad you were able to find the car *you* wanted. I freely admit that I have trouble pulling the trigger in this case, and that I enjoy the hunt. You got me. I'm all for John and Darryl's advice. How about we have an intervention at the BBQ? That does run the risk of ruining a perfectly good evening at the beach though.... |

Uh, yeah, I didn't know about the whole monetary situation. I hereby refute my claim to provide Nostatic with money for the supposed Porsche that he will one day most likely if not maybe purchase.
Damn, if I would ever buy a car from SoCal, what with the everchanging weather conditions and the salted highways. Probably better off looking for something back east where the weather is the same year round. Plus, there is a greater populous of Porsche owners on the east coast, what with all the great driving roads in, say Maryland or Delaware.

I know (or at least hope) that my fellow Pelicanheads recognize courage and maturity when they see it. Of the many 'mature' folks I deal with daily, few could handle the ribbing, and even outright criticism....and I'd go as far as insults.... that our friend Nostatic has gracefully endured here. I know the above comments are made with respect, but I do recall the earlier threads. My hat's off.
