Have them made by an awning company. Sunbrella makes some good, long lasting fabric or look at other marine fabric. Trust me, between sun, wind and rain you want them as durable as possible.

After 4 years my previously beige motorized 'Sunsetter' type roll-up awning is almost white and tiny pinholes of sunlight are beginning to emerge. It was advertised as UV resistant, too.

Well, I guess it resisted for four years.

Since you're in Seal Beach, you may be able to find a sail maker who will accomodate your needs?

The advice about choosing a good quality fabric and a proper awning maker is good.Cheap won't last long or fit too well.
We've been fabric cover makers for 35 years, but won't touch awnings-we leave it to those with relevant experience,

If you are restoring a Spanish house, don't buy a Lowes product. There are a few awning companies around. Contact the City of Long Beach Office of Historical Preservation for their referral list if they still have it. PM me if you wish and I can point you to those in the know.

There must be some fabricator out there using HDPE (high density polyethylene, i.e, plastic) for this kind of application.
