Holy Schizzle. Those were worth a couple bucks.

I can't believe that no one is asking me about meeting Little Richard.

I noticed that & felt a tad envious...but I soon recovered.
'Just too lazy yesterday to comment.
.
Did Lil Richard say to you, "SHUT UP"...

ps That was his deal for years...he'd get an audience reaction, then look at them at say, "SHUT UP".
I had one of his first albums the back of which had a huge photo of his group...no drums, 4 saxaphones, two of which were big bass 'phones', and there in the background was who else?...but Jimi Hendrix on guitar.

So it was Sept, 1962, and I had skipped school for a week to caddy at the Seattle stop on the pro tour. I got selected in the pro-am to be the forecaddy on the 15th hole, dogleg to the right, and had the pleasure of watching Lionel Hebert take a 5 iron from the left rough, bend it around a tree and land pin high. Golf shot!
With everyone's attention focused on Mr. Hebert I didn't see that the foursome behind had teed off into us, without waiting for the fairway to clear, and that one of the guys had sliced into the woods on the opposite side of the fairway. When I realized what was going on I headed across the fairway as fast as I could, being a scrawny runt in size L caddies' coveralls didn't help, and tried to guess the location of the ball by judging the golfer's course into the trees. Well, there was no way to find the ball and the golfer was penalized two strokes for lost ball. He gave me the impression he had been drinking and started calling me every four letter name you could call a kid for losing his ball. Then I recognized him...James Garner, who was starring in The Mavericks on tv. What a dick...hit a poor shot, hit into the leading foursome, and blame it on a kid when you can't find it...but I was kind of laughing on my way back across the fairway, cuz even at that young age I knew I would tell this story at some point.

I did not really interact with LR at that party, other than being introduced. I could not help but notice that he had the largest head that I'd ever seen on a human being, quite alarming, actually. I guess that I spent the couple hours talking with other people and so did he. Tim Curry was very nice, same with Luther Vandross, (RIP), he told me of how he got his big break touring with David in '70s on Young Americans tour...I think(?). Memory of exact details are foggy. Did not get to meet Bob Rafelson, him alone at a small cocktail party would be a really lucky deal, ie. having a conversation with a fascinating person.

I remember sitting on the couch in conversation with David and other guests, someone said, "I was never all that into your older stuff", (trying to bend it into a compliment of new at the time songs), I blurted out, "are you out of your fking mind??!" Lol...

I've run into a fair share of celebrities. The few really memorable people Ive met:

John Wayne - Met him when I was 12-14 yrs old at a sporting goods/gun shop in Newport Beach. He took the time to actually talk with me and seemed like a regular guy.

Mary Martin - She had the ability to captivate people with her stories of old Hollywood. She was quite engaging. I had the opportunity to be around Mary for a week and every day was a new story.

Smothers Brothers - Had dinner with them prior to their performance in Chicago which I was seeing that night. They were a riot. It was hard eating dinner while laughing constantly.

Tommy Lee - Went to high school with Tommy. He was OK.

And a little known actress Joyce MacKenzie. She was my Jr High English teacher. She played Jane in Tarzan and the She-Devil. Also appeared in movies with Bogart, Danny Kaye and Jimmy Stewart. She was a terrific teacher and told great Hollywood stories.

Back in the early 70's, I was looking at sport jackets in a Needless Markup (Neiman Marcus) store when the guy fitting me invited me to the modeling agency where he worked part time.
Male models don't have to be good-looking (subjective, anyway) but rather have good bone layout and be proportional.
I ended up doing some ramp work for the San Fran. Greme Agency and modeled clothing for Fiorucci, an Italian co.
Anyway, one day back stage, a tall beautiful lady came up to me and said, "Hello, so you're from North Dakota?...I'm from Breckenridge, MN...how do you like the big city?" We talked a while and swapped farm stories, etc., and she wished me luck. She excused herself and moved on. Then a full-time model said, "You're too new here to be flirting with Cheryl Tiegs." I had no clue who CT was...until days later.

A few here too:

After club show in 1983 went out and meet SRV on bus, with autographs. Very humble and welcoming guy.

In 1980 got back stage after Thin Lizzy concert in Japan and partied with the band for several hours. Phil Lynott happy to pose with me for a picture. Brian Downey the drummer was super. Cloud nine for us high school kids who at the time worshipped Lizzy. Still one of my favs.

Also same year in Japan, got on guest list for Journey at peak of their popularity and later got to hang out with them for short while. Not nearly as out going or fun as Lizzy were. Boring much like the show.

Ate lunch with Kiss in Mobile back in 1979. Sans Stanley. Gene was great and quite funny. Peter just a regular guy with a hot wife, and Ace was out of it...

Jerry Jones frequently ate at place in FLA where a friend and I had a valet service. Like talking to a wall.. he and the whole family. Not at all the smiling TV image one might have.

Hung out with Ryan Bingham after a show in Atlanta. Super guy!
