bats in the attic?

Neighbor told us they had bats in their attic, so started looking around, sure as hell see one go in early this morning before work. So tonight talk to neighbors, see the lame netting the bat removal company put up on their house. Stand near the area around dark, here the come out.

Anyone have experience with this? Not paying $1500 for some plastic netting....
Much rather have track tires for this kind of money.

Get a bat house and put it away from your house. Just make sure to hang it properly. Bats are good to have around.

I would think one of the best things you can do is install wire fabric over every hole they can possibly go through - and that can get down to maybe a half inch. Identify all the places, cut your fabric pieces, & attach (staple or ?) after they leave in the evening. It will probably take a while to identify all the places they can enter. I have a bat problem on my patio. They wanted to roost (hang?) in the really small space where the 4x12 rafters meet the fascia boards. I had to staple small pieces of wire fabric (quarter inch grid) around the base of each one to keep them out. They also would get into the small space between the top of the fascia and the roof boards where a really small opening was because of shrinkage. I closed those up with oakum and clear silicon caulk. Now sometimes they try to hang up in the corners where the rafters meet the fascias. I push them down with a long stick until they fly away. I think they're getting the message, because I don't have many trying to stay there anymore. I like bats, but they can be a real nuisance. I don't think I'd make a bat house. It might draw lots of bats & the overflow would try to use my house.

Family I knew had something like 200 bats in their attic. Called wildlife. Guy went into attic wearing hazmat getup and respirator. During midday. Shot the critters with a super-soaker water gun. Drove them all out and promptly closed off the points of exit. Respirator was necessary to avoid inhalation of anything from bat droppings which can cause some nasty diseases. Or, if the exit/entrance points are known could go in at night when bats are out and close off those points and they can't get back in.

They should leave in the winter. Homeowner can go into the attic and verify there are none there. Then they will need to seal up EVERYTHING around the house! You and the other neighbors should do same. Put up mesh, fill in holes.

I am assuming you live in the city.

install bat houses as far away from the houses as possible. Bats will destroy mosquitoes and other pests at night.

It could be worse you could have honets or other less desireable critters running around. squirrels can create havoc in your attics!
