Latest NICS update for FFL holders
"Brown, Kimberly J. Kimberly.Brown@ic.fbi.gov via listserv.leo.gov
to nicsfflupdates To clarify, the previous email just in case there are additional questions on how a Non-Immigrant previously received an I-94 number. This information stems from where the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) began automating the admission process for NONimmigrants. In the past, a NONimmigrant would receive Form 797 at the border which contained their I94#. Now that the process is automated, NONimmigrants no longer have to be in possession of this form which contains their I94#. But we all know for firearm purposes, they have to complete the ATF Form 4473 which requires this number in Box 15. Therefore, some NONimmigrants may claim they were not “given” a number by the Customs Border Patrol (CBP) when they came across the border. Somewhat true . . . they were not given the document with the number, but they are assigned an I94#. To obtain that number, the NONimmigrant will need to visit the CBP website at CBP.gov - home page to obtain the assigned I94#. This is a very simple process and they can print out the form to provide the FFL as well as for their own records. Thanks, Kim Brown That certainly clears things up for me. Jim

Maybe had she gone to some school beyond high school she could write better than a 12 YO. However, I do understand the process she is indicating. You don't have or remember number, get it from the CPB.
And I know absolutely nothing about the dealings of a FFL. |
