Best Place for Refinishing Wheels?

Hey, I have a set of custom Beyern wheels on my E39 BMW that are not made anymore. I love these wheels! Problem is they have seen better days. The finish is bright silver powder coated spokes with polished rim face that is clear powder coated.

I would like to find someone who can take these down to bare metal and then refinish exactly as they are now. I don't want to have them 'painted' as that is what most re-finishers do. Further, I have looked at just about every aftermarket staggered wheel set and cannot find a suitable replacement.

I'm in Va but wouldn't mind shipping to have this done. Advice please - Thanks!

Sounds like something a good powder coating company could do.

A neighbor of mine recently had a "mobile wheel refinishing" van in his driveway for about 2 hours last weekend. I didnt catch the name but his wheels turned out great. He had a 6 year old Nissan Titan truck with two tone grey/balck 20 inch wheels that had some curb damage. They look brand new now.

Our local Alloy Wheel Repair guy is a PCA member and does great work, I had all four wheels on my Maserati refinished (curbing and bent) and they looked fantastic for not much money. He didn't, however, powder coat them. They were just painted and clear coated.

I recently had a set of 993 cup wheels refinished. I was going to have them powder coated, but the wheel refinisher talked me out of it. His reasoning being that the baking during the powder coating process could comprimise the temper of the alloy wheel. He said it was a fantastic process for inexpensive steel wheels, but not alloys.

I guess he could just want my repeat business with fixing the wheels, but I doubt it. And the wheels came out looking fantastic.

Make sure they understand exactly what you want. They're a busy shop
but really good people

Dan, I spoke with Ed there and quoted @$200/per wheel to have them refinished exactly as they were originally. Since this is my DD, I'll have to set it on blocks in the driveway, take the set over to my friends shop to dismount the tires, get a rental car for week (or so) box them up and ship to PA.

I'm still not sure if I'll do this as the total cost and PITA for the whole deal needs to be thought out a little more. But def this shop is it if you're on the right coast
