Just now reading AMY, 27, now that she's joined the club. It's about her(Winehouse) and the five big name members of the 27 club. Brian Jones, Hendrix, Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain. I guess tragic biographies are my read of choice right now. Also read the Chet Baker biography and Gram Parsons also.
Many years ago I used to read to my two little girls all the Winnie the Pooh stories and his adventures with Eeyore and Piglet and the rest. All written by AA Milne for his son Christopher Robin. So I was startled to read in this book that Brian Jones owned and lived (briefly) and died at the house where Milne wrote all his books about Pooh and the gang. Drowned in the pool. Doesn`t seem right somehow. Right there in the hundred acre wood, with the Heffalump and Piglet and Roo watching from the shadows.

Another member of the 27 club was Pigpen, AKA Ron McKernan played harp,organ and sang for the Grateful Dead...
Legend has it that he and Joplin were a couple..well its written that thy were so ....

Robert Johnson, also 27 would have been the first club member. Hank Williams just missed as he lived to be all of 29!
