Shooting guns on new years eve.

I'm all for celebrating, but some people just take it a bit too far. For example, last night some drunken moron was in my backyard shooting a .22 pistol at midnight. The nerve of some people!

Someone was popping off a few here last night, woke me up, and I decided they were far enough away that I could go back to sleep.

No gunfire here, but more fireworks than I ever remember there being on New Year's Eve. It sounded like the 4th of July. Our Golden Retriever was not impressed...

I lived in Menlo Park, CA for ~40 yrs. Not too far away was East Palo Alto...in the early years EPA was a drug haven and lots of shooting in the air on July 4th and New Years Eve.
While tilling my garden one spring I found a .45 slug.
One year a little girl was killed when she was hit in the top of her head.
Not too long after the druggies were driven off by a massive Fed. & local LEO task force.
Thank God!

I hope you were shooting into the dirt/ground not the air. Shooting up is dangerous and potentially deadly.

We just moved here from Seattle, and I was shocked at how much gunfire there was here in Columbus. Lots of shotguns/pistols going off. Sounded like a few centerfire rifles as well!

I remember being a kid in the 1970s, and spending new years in Muskegon, MI at my grand parents. My dad and grandfather took me outside to shoot a 12 gauge. About 30 seconds after midnight, there was this strange sound, as if it were raining. It was birdshot coming down on the cars like rain!

I didn't want to get too close to the drunken fool, but he did appear to be shooting directly into the lawn.

My daughter was hit and injured from a bullet falling almost straight down on her when she was about 12 years old.....not her best memory of a weekend at the cottage......some azzshats should not be given the privilege (or right...I get it,,,its your right I am not talking about normal decent folks here) to own any firearm.

Sorry but such "recreational" gun firing is never a good idea. IMHO.

My neighborhood sounded like a war zone last night, too. After the fella two houses down (a damn good neighbor, actually) emptied his Tommy spoon @ 24:02 I did ponder using a rock, a gallon size Ziploc bag, a cutting torch, and a burning newspaper to return fire, but alas, I didn't wanna break any windows.

We heard some on Monday night and definitely Tuesday night. Not unusual in Mexico...

I wish you had asked me about Columbus before you moved there. I have volumes of stories...not good ones.
