They don't make them like they used to and I'm talking about the 80's!

No argument here.

My favorite line is when Shoeless Joe says no one could stand that SOB, Ty Cobb.

+1. My Dad was a White Sox fan born 1914 and raised on the South side of Chicago at 69th and Hoyne in the Englewood neighborhood. He got me hooked on the Sox 50 + years ago. My Dad and I used to play a lot of ball together.
I have read that if the "Black Sox" scandal had not broken up that Sox team, they very likely would have gone on to be like the New York Yankees in the 1920's. Those 8 Sox players were found not guilty in a court of law. Commisisoner Landis decided to ban them for life despite being found not guilty.
Now today, A-Rod is still playing. And don't get me started on Pete Rose.

Shuan,

Just for laughs. I have the Maple butcher block table Phil Robinson spend hours writting the screenplay on it. Phil's a great guy, and a fantastic client of mine.

That's pretty cool! One thing that struck me watching it again was how good the writing was. A little schmaltzy here and there, but it all worked so well. A great story that carried you every second of the way.

One of the most commonly misquoted lines... I'm guilty too.

It's actually "If you build it, he will come"

If You Build It, He Will Come - Field of Dreams (1/9) Movie CLIP (1989) HD - YouTube

Favourite lines:

"You Nazi Cow!"

"You're from the Sixties!"

We have a VHS copy. I talk the wife into watching it with me every couple of years.
Thanks for the memory.

Agreed, great flick. I am fairly indifferent to baseball...still love the film. Favorite lines...

"You guys are guests in my corn"

"None of could stand the son of a ***** when he was alive, so, we told him to stick it."

I love father-son movies.

Same here. Not really a baseball fan at all, but two of my favorite movies (Field of Dreams and The Natural) revolve around the sport. Testament to the great storytelling...
