Exhaust vent hose for garage - Any inexpensive options?
Trying to find a long (11-12 foot) hose to connect to the tailpipe to vent exhaust gas out into the driveway. The way my house sits and the prevailing winds, I get exhaust fumes in the house even when the garage door is open.
All options I have found are $100-250 for heat resistant black rubber hoses. I don't need a dual-outlet setup, just a single hose. Anyone have a cheaper option, or do I have to just bite the bullet? Thanks guys!

You should bite the bullet here. If you have ever grabbed one of the black rubber hoses after use it is very hot, anything else might not be up to the task

Hi

I would add a blower to that hose setup as well.

Almost the season to look by the roadside for the exhaust hose a mechanic forgot to take off a vehicle before a test drive!
I haven't been so lucky but some of my friends have. That stuff is expensive to purchase.

$100-250 is quite a spread. You really can't go cheap here.
Think of it this way... You'll only have to buy it once if you spend a but extra to get a decent hose. BUT, What about something from the building trade? A smallish air conditioning hose may work but I'm not sure about the heat issue.

Ebay flexible rubber exhaust hose < $85 (or best offer, with free shipping) You could also consider a big exhaust fan. A used furnace fan moves alot of air and should be available cheap, or even a $20 box fan in a window will vent the garage fairly quickly.

How often to you need this? 10 to 12 ' is something you could probably do with a dryer vent, some flexible and some rigid to lay on the ground. I'm sure the official exhaust hose has to have an adapter. Perhaps they sell those separately.
Yeah, Amazon sells a couple different ones. Didn't look to see if Pelican has any. |

I use alum dryer vent hose and adapt to exhaust pipe. Cheap.

Seems you only need a few feet of heat resistant hose. Surely by the time you are 2-4 feet from the tailpipe, heat is no greater than a dryer hose sees?

That's a great idea, I think it would work well. May not seal as well on the inlet end but close enough. I'm not looking to run the car in an enclosed area, just looking to redirect the exhaust away from my garage door so it does not blow back into the garage.

I used the same stuff when I found out the cost of the proper hose, I got about 3 feet of the straight metal dryer exhaust pipe and I'd put that on the tail pipe and the hose on the other end, never had a problem.

I'll be the elephant in the room. Why? Doing emission testing? I can't see any reasonable need to do this in a residential setting. Perhaps there is something not mentioned, but if you really need one of these, you shouldn't be doing it there in the first place.
