Hey bike guys... Ever hear of a Domenics road bike?

Friend of mine picked this up at a garage sale cheap and sold it to me cheap. It's fairly minty. I've found some mention that "some" Domenics bike were made by Tommasini, but having trouble confirming that this one is. Components are Campy Nuovo Record. Any ideas?

I haven't heard of the brand, but that's some sweet metal and lugging. Combined with pretty paint and Campy components - this is a fine machine.

I have seen a lot of bikes, but not this one. Typical late 80s early 90s Italian road bike. Rides once, super stable if you fly down the canyons. I check the tub. tires before going out for a ride. Find some rubber boots for that Silca pump pegs before you go and ride it. it will starch the frame in time if not. Get a pic of the little Columbus sticker near the top of the seat tube. I bet it will say SL. Maybe SLX, but SLX decals don't look like that.

I an not entirely sure if Tomasini made the frame? It could be a hand full of smaller frame shop out of Italy (Veneto is a place where there are lot of them.) They are much cheaper then the famous builders and probably just as good.

Oh, bike from that era makes my heart skip a beat. That's a beautiful machine. Now, drop that stem and put your nose down to the bar and go for a ride and beat on that thing. That's what they are made for.

Beautiful bike, beautiful condition, top quality from a great era.

Definitely check the tires carefully, including spare. If you've any doubt, new tubulars can be had fairly cheaply ($40-ish for a lower-end model) which might be good peace of mind during a 35 mph descent. Also check brake pads.

I'd rotate the handlebars up a bit, that angle is pretty aggressive. The black stem also could stand to be replaced, or stripped and polished, that is just aesthetics though. The Campagnolo components are a mix of eras, it seems, but that wouldn't bother me at all.

Figure the bike has potentially been sitting for 20 years, the grease in the bearings could be iffy. If it were mine, I'd pull apart and re-grease the hubs and bottom bracket, at least, before doing too much riding.

Cool... sounds like $100 well spent.

I found Domenics shop online and sent them a note asking if they wanted it on consignment.

Domenics used to be just South of University on Mill in Tempe. One of the top shops in AZ while he was alive but I have not been down there in 10 plus years.

Definitely needs new tires. I still use my Olmo which I put together in 1985. I love the shifters down low. I feel so retro every time I shift.

Wow. That's like winning Kate Upton's affections and then selling her to a cheap whorehouse . . .

Hmmm... just got a note back from the bike shop:

Nice bike, even with the signature frame, but we don't do consignments...shoot for $1500 or more on ebay or craiglist and see what happens. Nuovo Record is in high demand these days and same for the Tommasini frame.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing. Though there might be local sentimental interest due to the ties to the bike shop owner. We'll see. Weighing the question of selling "as is" vs getting it fully road ready. Road ready always seems to move quicker.
