Just saw "The Butler"

Say what you want about the dramatic license taken with the movie and how it veers from true events, but it is a simply fantastic movie. The cast is amazing and the acting is superb.

Really a great movie. If Forest Whitaker doesn't win the Oscar for Best Actor, there's something wrong. I would bet Oprah Winfrey also get nominated for Best Actress.

Speaking of Oprah, couldn't they have given that role to a more obscure actress?

It's a bit too cliche to cast her in a serious black movie, imo.

The movie was capitvating because of the acting not really due to the story.

We were very impressed also.

I also thought Oprah's performance was a little weak, but it didn't take anything away from the movie.

My wife thought the performance of the guy who played Nixon was weak, I disagree.

I thought John Cusack did a good job as Nixon, the guy who played Reagan (Professor Snape in Harry Potter) was the weakest.

I too thought the movie was great. I grew up in Oakland and the Black Panthers were a common sight around my high school.

I boycotted it because of Jane Fonda.

I refuse to spend a nickel on anything that includes Jane Fonda. She is such a waste of skin and air!
