Trooper runs over motorcyclists and no charges...

Hard to believe there are questions about this one...

The cop was likely texting. He should at least get a reckless driving charge. The couple will get their justice in the civil courts.

It's very clearly the motorcyclists fault.

Those kind of videos just scare the crap out of me. Guess that's why I am constantly scanning my mirrors.

we have cops that cruise the beach here. one ran over a girl laying on the beach. no charges.
i also seem to remember one hitting a motorcycle here too and no charges.
its amazing what the cops get away with.

Note to self:

Check my six more often.

Sometimes its good to be above the law.

Or dicking around with his computer.

I hope at the very least, he's been taken out of a car and put at a desk. With as much press as this is getting, I would be surprised if they don't get pressured into charging him with something. I wonder if the woman had an open face helmet or full face. Thank goodness they are not dead or in much, much worse shape.

atcjorg 09-13-2013 07:13 AM

why the hell is he checking the damage to his cruiser instead of tending to the injured?

GG Allin 09-13-2013 07:17 AM

On another board, I was reading an argument that the motorcycle had stopped in the middle of the road.

The motorcycle was clearly moving. A measurement of the white lines and space between them with elapse time would give infor to calculate speed of the motorcycle.

speeder 09-13-2013 07:32 AM

I can't watch that.

That cop should get the same treatment as ANYONE else that rear ends another vehicle. He must have been speeding, inattentive driving, failure to pay attention to the situation. He needs to off patrol. And for sure the state needs to pay 100% of all the medical costs and bike replacement.

It is good there is a dash cam.

kach22i 09-13-2013 07:53 AM

Back in 1982 I got off the hwy onto a road leading into East Lansing with a 45 mph speed limit on my Honda Hawk 400 cc motorcycle.

I was doing the speed limit if not a little under, when the cop car decided to pull out of a parking lot and get up on my rear bumper.

I felt like he wanted me to speed up so he could pull me over, I kept a constant speed with him inching his car ever closer. He finally made contact, and not in a slight way, then backed off a little.

I dropped it down a gear and sped off doing 100 mph, they did not give chase.

The kicks some cops get out of intimating others should not be underestimated. Clearly in the video this cop was not paying attention while speeding himself, and was more concerned about the damage to his cruiser than anything else.

A real piece of work which should not have a badge in my opinion. We would all be safer with that type behind bars or at least not operating a vehicle of any type.

wdfifteen 09-13-2013 08:48 AM

Shnikies! That happened about 5 miles from my house.

In my experience douche nozzle LEO types like to harass motorcycle and sports car operators. I've never gotten pulled over in any of my trucks.

BlueSkyJaunte 09-13-2013 09:56 AM

No charges? Sounds like justice is served.

RWebb 09-13-2013 11:34 AM

maybe they had loud pipes and he hit them on purpose

9dreizig 09-13-2013 12:14 PM

gee I hear crickets ..... where are the LEO defenders on this board??
I miss Sniper...

I didn't know Sammy was a cop?

When I see this kind of crazy stuff caught on dash cams it makes me wonder how much of it goes on when the dash cams are absent or turned off. Or are they always on in police cars anymore? I can't think of any other reason they would have caught this guy flying his Mustang into a bridge. The LEO was just driving along (sorry, there's an ad):
