2014 BMW M6 Detailed

Background:

A couple weeks ago, we received a phone call from one of our customers informing us that a brand new 2014 BMW M6 was on its way to his driveway. First, my customer inquired about what he should do to the car at the dealership, the answer was short and simple,

“Don't allow them to touch the car!”

During our two week communication period we exchanged ideas of what should we do to his new car, as we progressed deeper and deeper into our conversations we both agreed that a car of this caliber should be protected a little differently than the conventional way........ So we came to the conclusion that some type of coating should be applied......

We don’t manufacture any type of vehicle Semi permanent coatings; the primary reason is that we have found out that past formulas had turned yellow and some have even cracked on the vehicle's surface, and this could be a huge liability issue.

There's no denying that some companies have pioneered this revolutionary idea and have very successful programs and products, others are closing the gap very fast and others are nothing more than marketing hype, leaving the average consumer confused and making the true credibility of good coating products a tough battle.

As times are changing so is the product technology (Coatings) I began to learn more and more about this new technology so that at least I was up with the times, my curiosity was so much that I tested a few well known brands but unfortunately for me, I was disappointed with the ones that I tested, the lack of shine, lack of durability, the complexity of the application and removal process were the primary reasons that I was disappointed with this great technology.

Trying to look outside the box, I reached out to my good friend Robert DiTerlizzi, he owns and operates a detailing business by the name of Impressions Fine Automotive Detailing. After consulting with him about my customer needs he suggested a particular coating that he has been using, after reviewing some of the end results of this particular product, I felt that this coating was completely different from the others that I had tested. I decided to partner with Robert so that together with our we could deliver some astonishing results for my customer.

Conclusion: Some of those coatings work and some of them work better than others, hit and miss, my guess, this one unfortunantly is not sold to the general public.

Process:

We started the job with the vehicle placement and evaluation,My customer went as far as taking all the exterior and interior protective plastic out himself! To avoid any mishaps. Besides a few light marks here and there the car was in very good shape for the most part, the odometer has recorded 150 miles.

Looks great Juan, but I think a 2014 is cheating.

What kind of coating and why?
Is it foe prevention of nicks or fading? I'm confused.

Looks Great! The first 150 miles are the hardest. It's like you practically brought it back from the grave.

I "interior trim was protected" my minivan today, but I just call it

wiped down the inside.

I do very much like your threads though, all the time.

Actually you can really do a lot with new paint, it's not like the factory waxes it. When we bought our 4runner new I requested that they not detail it, and brought it straight home for a quality wax.

This type of customer is looking after their investment, a product like this one offers a Warranty against yellowing, chipping or peeling, Also has warranty for gloss, no more than 20% loss over two years. No mechanical car washes.

I'm not saying that coatings are for everyone because they're not.

Reminds me of the time I saw a brand new 80's Speedster at a concours, and the owner was arguing with the judge (Dwitch Mitchell) over the correct color of the oil filter. The car only had 100 miles or so - it was probably the same filter that was installed at the factory.
